A day after rocker Melissa Etheridge filed to formally end her domestic partnership with her longtime partner, actress Tammy Lynn Michaels, the latter fired back, saying she was “blindsided” by Etheridge’s filing at this time, People.com reports.
Etheridge, 48, and Michaels, 35, had been together for nine years before announcing their separation in April this year.
The lesbian couple held a commitment ceremony in Malibu, Calif., in 2003, when same-sex marriages weren't legally recognized in California. The pair registered a domestic partnership in August 2005.
Etheridge files to end partnership
On Friday, Etheridge filed paperwork to dissolve her domestic partnership with the "Popular" star Michaels, her partner of nine years.
Ever since Etheridge filed legal papers, Michaels has taken to her blog twice to strike back at her ex.
In a blog posting on Saturday, she expressed her shock and dismay over Etheridge's decision to formally end their nine-year partnership, People reports.
Etheridge cited irreconcilable differences in the court documents as the reason for the dissolution of the couple's domestic partnership. The singer also requested that Michaels be given no financial support, which came as a major blow to Michaels who's claimed to have financial troubles since the split, E! reports.
Michaels fires back
In the blog post titled "blindsiding," the self-proclaimed "Hollywood Farm Girl" claims she was "blindsided" by the timing of the dissolution of their domestic partnership, reports E! Online.
She blasts Etheridge in poetic prose, saying: "Gentle waves/ no noise for awhile/ or maybe gentle voices/and SMACK!!!!! FILE FOR DIVORCE!!!/ even though we both promised, agreed, handshook, pinkyswore/no filing until after tour/in the fall."
No financial support for the actress

Michaels, who gave birth to the couple's son Miller and daughter Johnnie in 2006, claims she has had to scrape together the money to make ends meet.
"I know she doesn't want to give me money. trust. i'm borrowing cash left and right from people to get through this summer, and feed my kids, with a stomach full of ulcers, thank you. no stress here. :-)," she wrote.
"Her broken promises told to me by headlines….Could you stop blind sighting [sic] me?" the ‘L Word’ actress concludes. "Unless it's another art form you're working on / have a good concert."
Etheridge, Michaels and their brood
Etheridge and Michaels together have baby twins, son Miller Steven and daughter Johnnie Rose, who latter delivered in October 2006. The couple used an anonymous donor from a sperm bank.
Etheridge has two older children with former partner Julie Cypher. They are, daughter Bailey Jean (born in 1997) and son Beckett (born in 1998), who conceived via artificial insemination using a sperm donation from rock legend David Crosby, a member of the famed rock group Crosby, Stills & Nash.
The singer and Cypher, who left husband Lou Diamond Phillips for Etheridge, share custody of the children.
