Lindsay Lohan’s SCRAM bracelet, urine test contradictory

Lindsay Lohan was ordered to wear an alcohol-monitoring ankle bracelet after she failed to appear before the judge in a DUI case.

Lindsay Lohan’s SCRAM (secure continuous remote alcohol monitoring) ankle monitor and her urine test conducted later told two opposing tales the night of the MTV Awards.

While the former suggests that the actress was under the influence of alcohol, the latter gives her a clean chit.

The alcohol monitoring device was slapped on Lohan on May 24 by Beverly Hills judge Marsha Revel after she did not show up for a compulsory hearing related to her 2007 DUI case.

Revel had doubled the actress's bail to $200,000 after the bracelet went off.

Opposing reports
“The urine test confirms what Lindsay has said all along: that she didn’t have any alcohol or do anything to cause the device to go off,” Lohan’s lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley said.

The results of the urine test have not been made public as yet, but Lohan is relieved.

There is a possibility that the alcohol content in Kombucha is more that what the manufacturing company claims. This excess alcohol may have triggered the SCRAM bracelet.

The 23-year-old celebrity tweeted, “the truth, is refreshing.”

A representative for SCRAM has cast doubt on the accuracy and credibility of the urine test, claiming that their device doesn’t get alcohol monitoring wrong.

The third angle
The tussle or the battle of truth, so to say, is not only between the urine report and the SCRAM bracelet. There is a third factor as well.

Believe it or not, it is Kombucha tea.

Lohan’s penchant for Kombucha, which the company claims has only traces of alcohol, is well known. Her liking for the beverage has only grown in recent times.

Sources familiar with the matter also claim that the party-loving starlet was seen guzzling the tea on the fateful night.

There is a possibility that the alcohol content in Kombucha is more that what the manufacturing company claims. This excess alcohol may have triggered the SCRAM bracelet.

While the exact amount of alcohol in the tea is being investigated, Kombucha's head claims the reports are baseless.

"Although we are not familiar with the technology or sensitivity of SCRAM bracelets, we think it would be highly unlikely that our products would trigger an alarm," said G.T. Dave, creator of Synergy Kombucha.

The next date of hearing in the case is July 6.

Meanwhile, the ‘Mean Girl’ star will wait for a fashion accessory for her court-mandated bracelet.

In a message sent to the French fashion powerhouse Chanel, she requested, “Can CHANEL please help me out by getting me some stickers to put on my scram bracelet so that i can at least wear a chic dress?! maybe!? X.”
