It seems the Speidi split story was no publicity stunt. Spencer and Heidi are actually going separate ways.
Heidi Montag is determined to get away from husband Spencer Pratt, who has reportedly been acting weird. The Hills star filed for legal separation from her partner in a Santa Monica, Calif. courthouse on Tuesday.
Heidi recently moved out of the Pacific Palisades, Calif., home she once shared with her husband, but close associates of the couple refused to believe they were actually splitting. The news of their separation was thought to be just another way of stirring up media hype.
But now it seems the Speidi split story was no publicity stunt; Spencer and Heidi are actually going separate ways.
Heidi files for legal separation from Spencer
Heidi had suggested the possibility of a divorce as she moved in with her friend Jennifer Bunney for the filming of a new reality show. But most people still thought that she was eventually going to move back in with Spencer Pratt.
However, the 23-year-old reality star, filed for legal separation from Spencer Pratt, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason behind the break-up.
Spencer’s weird behavior
The irreconcilable differences probably refer to Spencer’s crazy behavior. He had reportedly developed an obsession for strange objects including crystals and guns and had allegedly been trying to send signals to aliens.
Spencer had been wasting a lot of money on his weird collections; one day he had to part with it all because the expenses exceeded his budget.
With effect from the date of separation, which is listed as June 8, everything that is earned by Heidi Montag will be considered her separate property.
"There are so many lies out there about me and I just needed space – even away from my husband," Heidi had told PEOPLE, while moving out of her home. She did not reveal anything about her husband’s odd behavior but just said that she wants to “to concentrate on myself.”
Its’ just legal separation, not divorce
Montag has only filed for legal separation, she did not file divorce papers. Probably the starlet is still in hope of getting back with her husband, when he becomes normal again.
Legal separation just implies that she will not have to share her earnings with Spencer. With effect from the date of separation, which is listed as June 8, everything that is earned by Montag will be considered her separate property.
Hills cast doubt the split
Montag’s co-stars from the Hills are still not ready to believe that she is splitting from Spencer. "I think it's a joke," said Audrina Patridge at Sunday's MTV Movie Awards. "I don't believe it. They're inseparable and in love."
"I doubt they're really broken up," said Whitney Port. "I'm sure they're still sticking together."
