According to several news reports, world renowned British lecturer and astrophysicist Stephen Hawking will soon be seen hosting a show called ‘Into the Universe” where he will discuss about the possibility of existence of aliens in the universe.
Hawking believes it’s quite logical that some form of alien life exists in such a vast universe where there are 100 billion galaxies and each galaxy contains hundreds of millions of stars. So considering the size of the universe, it’s not possible that Earth is the only place where life flourished.
"To my mathematical brain, the numbers alone make thinking about aliens perfectly rational. The real challenge is to work out what aliens might actually be like,” suggested Hawking.
The show ‘Into the Universe” took three long years in the making and is scheduled to be aired on Discovery Channel on May 9.
Aliens might not be friendly?
Reportedly, in the show Hawking will be seen suggesting that aliens might not be friendly towards humans and there’s always a possibility that they will come only to plunder Earth’s resources.
Hawking believes it’s quite logical that some form of alien life exists in such a vast universe where there are 100 billion galaxies and each galaxy contains hundreds of millions of stars.
“We only have to look at ourselves to see how intelligent life might develop into something we wouldn’t want to meet. I imagine they might exist in massive ships, having used up all the resources from their home planet. Such advanced aliens would perhaps become nomads, looking to conquer and colonize whatever planets they can reach,” suggests Hawking.
He concluded by suggesting that humans should stop trying to establish contact with aliens because end result could be “little too risky.”
"If aliens visit us, the outcome would be much as when Christopher Columbus first landed in America, which didn't turn out very well for the Native Americans," added Hawking.
Before this too Hawking had suggested that aliens might exist somewhere in the vast universe. He has also co-authored two fictional books on the subject with wife Lucy titled “George’s Secret Key To The Universe” and “George’s Cosmic Treasure Hunt.”
He has also published a book titled “A Brief History Of Time” that focuses more on the factual knowledge.
Other scientists too believe in the existence of aliens
For decades, scientists have been trying their best to find some proof that aliens do exist.
Earlier, Professor Brain Cox, too, had backed Hawking’s idea on the existence of aliens in the universe in BBC’s series called ‘Wonders of the Solar System.’
Even the well-known astronomer Lord Rees had said in his lecture earlier this year that: “I suspect there could be life and intelligence out there in forms we can’t conceive.”
