Another celebrity leaves DWTS; this time Buzz Aldrin

On the elimination night, Aldrin went out with a smile and said that he would never want to forget the experience. He received a standing ovation from the audience.

After three weeks on 'Dancing With the Stars,' Buzz Aldrin is leaving the ballroom. The retired astronaut is the second celebrity to be eliminated from the ABC's hit show Tuesday night.

After performing the waltz on Monday (April 5), Aldrin was sent home on Tuesday’s results show. The final three at the end of Tuesday's Results show were Buzz Aldrin, former Bachelor Jake Pavelka and Kate Gosselin.

Fortunately, the mother of sextuplet Kate was declared safe, leaving Aldrin and Jake in the bottom two, and eventually sending the 80-year-old Apollo 11 astronaut back home. Aldrin scored a low 13 out of 30 from judges, while Jake received a 21.

End of the road for Buzz on DWTS
For his Waltz on Monday night, Aldrin received the lowest number of votes from the judges because they thought he didn't do much of dancing while his professional dance partner Ashly Costa did all the efforts on the dance floor.

Buzz joined DWTS for fighter pilots, elder geezers and military people
Aldrin, the second man to walk on the moon, shared with the nation why he appeared on the hit ABC show.

"I never thought I'd walk on the moon, but I certainly never thought I'd dance on TV," the legendary astronaut said on Tuesday's episode.

"I did this show for the fighter pilots out there, the military people and the elder geezers like me who would just like to see an elder come back week after week.

"But I'm interested also in having the public be thankful for the great successes that we had in the Apollo program and look forward to even greater successes in our future space program. That's why I came on board to take the challenge and take the risk and I thank everyone who voted for us."

Aldrin then received a standing ovation and continued, “This has been an experience I will never want to forget.”

Last week, the audience voted off Shannen Doherty, the former star of ‘Beverly Hills 90210,’ and her pro dancing partner Mark Ballas, even though Aldrin and ‘Baywatch’ bombshell Pam Anderson had earned low scores from the judges.
