‘Alice in Wonderland’, is an eccentric tale of Mia Wasikowska, (Alice), who accidentally returns to Underland, a place she had visited 13 years ago.
Tim Burton’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’ bagged the No.1 spot for the third consecutive week, roughing up Jennifer Aniston’s ‘The Bounty Hunter’. Alice grossed $34.5 million this week compared to Aniston’s film, which raked in $21 million.
Other movies that Alice toppled were ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’, which opened to a studio-estimated $21.8 million in US and Canada, and sci-fi action movie ‘Repo Men’, which grossed $6.2 million.
“To pull off a number like this is pretty remarkable,” said Chris Aronson, Fox's executive vice president of domestic distribution. He added and said, “There's no doubt that spring break helped our Friday to really pop.”

However, Tim Burton's 3-D hit, which received an A rating from research firm ComScore, dropped 41 percent internationally, bringing down its worldwide ticket sales to a $565.8 million.
‘Bounty Hunter’, which had a fair start first, toppled in the end. Financed by Sony Pictures and Relativity Media, the movie was highly anticipated after Anniston’s previous flops ‘Love Happens’, ‘Marley and Me’ and ‘The Break-Up.’
The film broke the previous IMAX record of sci-fi movie ‘Avatar’, earning $11.9 million from 188 locations.
It got a B rating along with ‘Repo Men’, which only grossed $6 million in its opening weekend. Paramount’s ‘She’s Out Of My League’ stood at fourth place, with a total of $6.25 million in the US and $20.25 million internationally.

Review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes gave the movie a 52 percent positive review, with a rating of 5.7 out of 10. The site said, “Tim Burton's Alice sacrifices the book's minimal narrative coherence – and much of its heart – but it's an undeniable visual treat.”
On the other hand, the Hollywood Reporter said, “Burton has delivered a subversively witty, brilliantly cast, whimsically appointed dazzler that also manages to hit all the emotionally satisfying marks. Ultimately, it's the visual landscape that makes Alice's newest adventure so wondrous, as technology has finally been able to catch up with Burton's endlessly fertile imagination.”
