Google's clients demand claritry about its China operations

There will be lot of pressure on the company if it pulls out from China. In the letter posted to Google, the clients have asked how the company will reimburse and redress the problems of investors, employees, and clients.

With Google considering ending its operations in China, the advertisers who are currently with Google have asked the Internet search giant to state clearly its business plans in the country.

Google’s clients are worried that if the company exits from China, their business operations will adversely be affected.

Clients demanding compensation
There will be lot of pressure on the company if it pulls out from China. In the letter posted to Google, the clients have asked how the company will reimburse and redress the problems of investors, employees, and clients.

Specifically, they have asked the search giant when and how the company will return them the prepayment for advertisement, how the workers will, who will be thrown out of work, be compensated, and how will it be compensate the clients for all their investment.

The letter from a group of sales representatives was posted on the Web site of China’s state run television.

The letter read, “We see a constant stream of information but cannot predict the future, we see business sliding, but there is nothing we can do. We are waiting now in incomparable pain and disquiet."

The search giant’s clients are hoping that Google will “face up to the problems and try to find ways to solve them."

A Google spokesperson has confirmed that the company has received the letter and is currently reviewing it.

A customer service manager, surnamed Sheng, at Suzhou Universal Internet Media, told Reuters, “We don't want Google to pull out. We believe Google will give us a proper explanation."

Hoping that Google will take action on the censorship issue, many Google users in the country stayed awake Monday night to see if its search results were still censored.

The users realized that some of the results were censored and some were not, but they did not understand the reason for this inconsistency.

Google is currently in talks with the Chinese officials regarding censorship and is soon likely to reveal the outcome of the discussion with officials.

Despite all the discussion, analysts believe that Google will not accede to censorship demands of the Chinese officials and will end its operations in China.

According to sources familiar with the issue, the company has already made up a detailed plan on how to exit from the country.
