Sony debuts PlayStation Move at GDC

According to a report presented on Monday by the Strategy Analytics firm, Sony’s PlayStation 3 will soon reach the number one position in console market by beating both Wii and Xbox 360 consoles.

In a press conference held at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco, Sony Corp. unveiled its new offering, PlayStation Motion Controller, titled 'PlayStation Move'.

The entire 45 minute long conference at GDC was devoted to PlayStation Move, a small stick like device resembling a microphone with a ball like thing on the top and an LED inside.

The stick like controller uses various motion controllers and the PlayStation Eye camera to track down players movements while playing the game.

According to the description provided by Peter Dille, Sony’s senior vice president of marketing and head of PlayStation Network, "It allows you to immerse yourself into the action with incredible precision, rather than simply playing a game."

Sony’s demonstrated Move’s working in different game genre that included bows and shooting arrows, swords, golf, guns, or punching etc. The entire idea behind the device is to provide player with a realistic feel of holding whatever thing the games demand.

Sony’s PlayStation Move is scheduled to hit the store shelves sometime in 2010 fall.

Sony PlayStation 3 to win over Wii?
According to a report presented on Monday by the Strategy Analytics firm, Sony’s PlayStation 3 will soon reach the number one position in console market by beating both Wii and Xbox 360 consoles.

The firm provided sale prediction and other figures in its report titled ‘Taming the Waves: Games Console Life Cycles and Platform Competition’, which predicted future of various consoles in the market.

According to the author of the report and principal analyst at the firm, David Mercer, "Nintendo has done a great job with the Wii in bringing console games to new audiences. But its sales are now falling, particularly in mature markets, and its installed base will peak in 2011. Ownership of both the PS3 and the Xbox 360 will hit their highest points between 2012 and 2014."

The firm also predicted 2010 sales, stating that Wii sales will reach 17.5 million units; Xbox 360 sales 10.5 million; PS2 around 5.5 million and PlayStation 3 will sell around 14.0 million. The report also said that market could see 9 percent dip in the sales of gaming console in 2010.
