“Nothing ever lets me get too full of myself,” said Sandra Bullock, the first actress to win a Razzie alongside an Oscar.
Sandra Bullock dazzled all at the Oscars in a shimmering figure-hugging gown by British label Marchesa. The actress’ humility after winning the coveted trophy and her tolerant attitude at previous day’s Razzie awards further added to her charisma.
First time Academy Award nominee Sandra Bullock was all excited about winning the best actress Oscar for ‘The Blind Side,’ but she said that she “didn't aspire to this. I was in awe of it. I admired it. I got to watch it like everyone else did, or present, but it wasn't something that I said, ‘One day when I get the Oscar.’"
Longing to get back home
However, she looked pretty relaxed after the big victory and expressed a desire to be in the comfort of her home.
“I just want to eat! I just want to sit down and take my shoes off, and take my dress off, and eat a burger - and not worry that my dress is going to bust open,” Bullock was quoted as saying.
“Sorry that's all I can give you, but I just want to eat! And take a nap.”
Sandra’s stylish statement
The actress, being lauded for choosing the right gown for the red carpet, revealed that she had not decided on what to wear for the ceremony until the day before the show. Her oldest stepdaughter helped her pick the dress, she said, “It was her favorite.”
“I got up a little later than I normally do, and I let everyone else do the work,” Bullock said about getting decked up for the all-important event. “If I'd done the work, I wouldn't look like this, that's for sure.”
It was a weekend of victories for the 45-year-old actress who showed up a day before at the Golden Raspberry Awards and collected two Razzies for her performance in ‘All About Steve.’
In all humility
Winning the best alongside the worst helps keep her grounded, said the actress.
“You take the good with the not so good,” she said after the Oscars ceremony.
However, she added that the Razzie Awards were fun. “I had the best time at the Razzies last night. It probably means more that [the Oscar and the Razzie] both happened at the same time, because it's the great equalizer.
“Nothing ever lets me get too full of myself,” said the actress modestly.
Sandra Bullock plans to keep her Oscar and Razzie statuettes side by side, the latter “maybe on a different shelf, lower,” she said.
For the young people, aspiring to be where she is, Sandra Bullock only has once advice: “Don't aspire to be in these shoes. Walk in your own.” She insists the uniqueness in individuals makes the world exciting and people should just revel in being what they are.
