Sandra Bullock also won another Razzie, jointly with Bradley Cooper for making the worst screen couple in ‘All About Steve.’
Sandra Bullock is quite a sport. The Oscar-nominated actress turned up at the Barnsdall Gallery Theater in Hollywood on Saturday night to pick up the Razzie Award for the worst actress of 2009 for ‘All About Steve’.
Bullock pulled in with a cart full of ‘All About Steve’ DVDs, to distribute among the audience, who she said, have not even seen the movie.
Watch the movie first
“Something tells me you all didn't watch the film,” she said. “I wouldn't be here if you really, really watched it and understood what I was trying to say.”
Sandra Bullock played a socially discomfited compiler of a newspaper crossword, who falls in love with a cameraman (Bradley Cooper) and becomes a stalker. Bullock was also the co-producer of the film, which did fine at the box office. The film made profit but the critics did not approve of it.
“We brought everybody in the audience a DVD of ‘All About Steve,’” said the actress, asking everybody to watch it and reconsider their decision. If the members agree that the movie isn’t all that bad, Bullock said she’d return next year and hand over the Razzie back to them.
“I will come back next year,” she said. “I will give back the Razzie.”
Thank you for ruining my career
However, she accepted her Razzie Award this time amidst a cheering audience. “Thank you for ruining my career with a very bad decision,” Bullock said humorously, and went on to threaten the members with the movie’s script that she said, she’d brought along.
Either you people can watch the movie and rethink or she said that she’s was going to read out her dialogues “till about 4 o'clock in the morning.”
“I'm willing to go through page by page, read the line the way I did it in the film and, if anyone wants to give me a line read of how I could've done it better….”
She won because she came
Further reinforcing her claim of making not-so-bad a movie, Bullock said they just selected her for the award because she had promised to turn up. “I said I would show up and then I miraculously won!” she said.
Sandra Bullock also won another Razzie, jointly with Bradley Cooper for making the worst screen couple in ‘All About Steve.’
But, according to her, that wasn’t justified either.
“Again, if you had seen the film, seen it with your eyes, it's pretty much a film about a woman stalking a man,” she said. “That doesn't really set up the premise for a loving couple. So giving us the worst couple award is kind of duh.”
Best and worst together?
Interestingly, Sandra Bullock is among the favorites for winning an Oscar for the best actress for her drama ‘The Blind Side’. If she grabs the Oscar tonight, she’d become the first actress to win both the best and the worst awards in the same year.
