Selected as America’s “Top 10 Most Fascinating People” of 2008, Palin released her book ‘Going Rogue: An American Life’ in 2009. The book talks about her private and political career, including her resignation as governor of Alaska.
Former Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin is all set to hit the entertainment business. Palin will soon be featured in a show set in Alaska. The show is to be produced by Mark Burnett.
Burnett, who is best known for his work as the producer of “Survivor,” is one of TV's busiest producers. He said the whole show will be shot in the style of Discovery's “Planet Earth.”
“What it's not is a reality show following her around, getting up in the morning or her family and all the salacious stuff,” he said.
The program will follow Palin’s family celebrating the natural beauty of Alaska.
Palin, who had been approached by Burnett for the show, is currently in talks with executives of ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox.
Palin to draw six figure compensation for the show
Palin will be seen visiting a commercial fishing boat and touring either coal or gold mines in the program.
“It's being in and experiencing the great charm and beauty of Alaska with Sarah Palin,” said Burnett.
Many industry insiders think Palin will get a six figure payment for each episode of the show.
“The fact that a former vice presidential contender and a possible presidential contender is talking about doing a reality show about her family shows how much it's a part of our daily life,” said Matea Gold of the Los Angeles Times.
The former governor's soon-to-come show is already being compared to Discover’s famous ‘Deadliest Catch.’
“The fact that they are shopping this show to broadcast networks, rather than cable networks, shows that there's a lot of interest in her. I will say, she is an A-list personality and a reality show starring her would command A-list money,” said Matthew Belloni, managing editor of features for The Hollywood Reporter.
Sarah Palin’s past year
Selected as America’s “Top 10 Most Fascinating People” of 2008, Palin released her book ‘Going Rogue: An American Life’ in 2009.
The book talks about her private and political career, including her resignation as governor of Alaska.
In less than two weeks after its release, the book sold one million copies. Palin even traveled to 11 states with her family to promote the book.
Recently, on being asked about whether she would be running for president in 2012, she said, “I would be willing to if I believe that it's right for the country. I won't close the door that perhaps could be open for me in the future.”
