It's a girl for Eric Dane & Rebecca Gayheart

In February, Dane had said he's thrilled at the prospect of being father to a little girl.

'Grey's Anatomy' actor Eric Dane and wife Rebecca Gayheart are parents to a baby girl now. The couple has welcomed their first child together on Wednesday, their publicist confirmed Thursday.

Publicist Nanci Ryder confirmed the happy news to The Associated Press, saying the 38-year-old Gayheart delivered Dane’s baby Wednesday in a Los Angeles hospital.

“Mother, father and daughter are doing great,” Ryder told the AP.

They haven't revealed the baby’s name yet.

According to a report from Hollyscoop, Gayheart checked into Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and gave birth to a little girl on Thursday, March 3.

An inside source told the tabloid that “they’re both over the moon about it.”

No further details about the Hollywood couple’s bundle of joy were immediately known.

Pregnancy confirmation
The 37-year-old Dane and Gayheart, who have been married since 2004, confirmed the pregnancy back in November, after a suspicious baby bump had been discussed in the media for months.

Gayheart told In Touch Weekly at the time: "We've always wanted to be parents. I think Eric is going to be a wonderful dad, and hopefully I'll be a good mom. We're absolutely looking forward to it!"

In February, Dane had said he's thrilled at the prospect of being father to a little girl.

"It just makes sense that I'm having a girl ... I don't know what it is, but I am excited it's a girl," he told People last month.

Baby name not selected yet
On selection of their baby’s name, Gayheart had told the magazine: "We have a couple of names, but we're going to wait and meet the baby before we name [her]."

Also, Dane said last month while appearing on 'The Ellen DegGeneres' show that they would choose her name only after meeting their new daughter.

About the star couple
Dane plays Dr. Mark "McSteamy" Sloan on the ABC drama "Grey's Anatomy" and most recently played a Brett Favre-esque retiring quarterback in the movie "Valentine's Day."

He will be next seen in the upcoming musical film "Burlesque" with Christina Aguilera and Cher. The film is to be released November this year.

His wife Gayheart made a name for herself in the 90s as the spokesperson for Noxema, and subsequently starred in the series 'Dead Like Me' and 'Nip/Tuck,' as well as Fox shows "90210" and "Vanished."
