Nintendo to launch new DSi console and games in North America

DSi XL will feature two 4.2-inch screens. It will be equipped with a small stylus, which can be stored within the device, and a large pen-like stylus to enable a user to comfortably play games for a long duration of time.

Just like the year gone by, 2010 is going to be very exciting for the video game enthusiasts as there are big releases lined up this year too.

Following Microsoft's X10 event organized earlier this month, Nintendo held its media summit in San Francisco Wednesday, announcing a slew of new games and a new DS game console, scheduled for launch in the first half of this year.

DSi XL
After the success of its popular line of DS game consoles, Nintendo is all set to capture the market with the new addition, DSi XL.

The game console is already available in Japan. Now the device will make its way to North American stores on March 28.

DSi XL will feature two 4.2-inch screens, with better viewing angles from the sides.

It will be equipped with a small stylus, which can be stored within the device, and a large pen like stylus to enable a user to comfortably play games for a long duration of time.

Further, the device will come preloaded with few games and applications. The games include Brain Age Express: Arts & Letters, Brain Age Express: Math and Photo Clock.

DSi XL, which boasts of a long-duration battery, will be priced at $189.99 and include Nintendo DSi Browser and Flipnote Studio as the pre-installed applications.

Game releases
Along with DSi XL, Nintendo will also be launching two game titles next month.

The first is ‘WarioWare D.I.Y.,’ a microgame compilation video game, which will allow users to design their own microgames, graphics, music etc. The game will be playable on Wii game console.

The other is ‘America's Test Kitchen: Let's Get Cooking.’ The game features 300 recipes that have been tested and perfected by cooks at America's Test Kitchen, a cooking show on Public Broadcasting Service.

The other game titles scheduled for launch this year include:

• Monster Hunter Tri, a third console installment in the Monster Hunter franchise; to be released on April 20.

• ‘Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies’ by Square-Enix. It will be launched this summer; the date is yet not specified.

• ‘Picross 3D’, a puzzle video game developed by Nintendo and HAL Laboratory; due for release on May 3.

• ‘Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands’ developed by Ubisoft; to be launched on May 18.

• ‘Ghostwire: Link to the Paranormal’ by Majesco; scheduled for October launch.

Nintendo will also be releasing the sequel of the much-loved game ‘Super Mario Galaxy’ on May 23.

Further, it will be teaming up with Team Ninja to develop ‘Metroid: The Other M,' which will be launched on June 27.
