Cheryl and Ashley Cole part ways

Last week, reports were rampant that the 26-year-old Girls Aloud singer is planning to end her marriage to Ashley following multiple reports that the star footballer cheated on Cheryl with five different women.

It has long been speculated that the sportsman sent sex texts and X-rated pictures of himself to topless model Sonia Wild.

Daily Mail reported last week that another woman has come forward with the claims that she spent the night with the Chelsea defender Ashley at a hotel before he played an England match.

In the wake of Ashley’s infidelities, Cheryl has decided to end her three-and-a-half year marriage to the footballer within weeks, Daily reported last week. However, it had stated that the split will be announced 'within weeks' after she returns from her current work-related trip to Los Angeles.

Cheryl dumps Cole
Within hours of landing at the couple's home in the back of a swish Mercedes Tuesday, Cheryl made an announcement that, following more allegations that he had been unfaithful, her marriage with her love rat hubby Ashley is over, The Sun reports.

The betrayed singer, who is also a judge on the popular television music show "The X-Factor," formally announced in a 21-word statement soon after returning to Britain from Los Angeles that she was separating from 29-year-old Chelsea and England defender, according to the British tabloid.

Cheryl took to the Twitter page of her representatives Supersonic PR yesterday to announce the separation.

The statement on Twitter reads: "Cheryl Cole is separating from her husband Ashley Cole.

"Cheryl asks the media to respect her privacy during this difficult time.

“We have no further comment to make."

It has also been reported by The Sun that Cheryl told Ashley she wanted a divorce by sending a text message from LA saying simply: "Move out. It's over."

Injured footballer quit
And hours before her arrival, the injured Ashley had packed his bags and left the house on crutches. The football star reportedly left the mansion in a black Mercedes, with his crutches clearly seen in the back.

He jetted off to France where his broken ankle will be treated at a specialist rehabilitation centre, The Sun reports.

Divorce likely on cards
UK’s Sun also cited some friends of the singer as confirming that she has issued the statement that she had left her footballer hubby.

According to the British paper, one pal said: "Cheryl still has extremely strong feelings for Ashley despite being let down, angry and hurt. So she decided to just issue a short statement that they have split up.

"It is permanent - make no mistake about that. But to soften the blow to Ashley she has allowed the slight possibility that one day - perhaps in six months time - she will hear what he has to say.

"However, it is more than likely she will press on and seek a divorce."
