Jake Harris, son of a recently deceased 'Deadliest Catch' fish boat captain, is currently behind bars. Washington state troopers have arrested him late Thursday night on suspicion of drunk driving and hit-and-run, reports People.com.
Harris, who appears on the Discovery Channel’s 'Deadliest Catch' fishing show as a deckhand, was arrested in Seattle late Thursday, nine days after the death of his father, late Capt. Phil Harris.
Jake’s driving under the influence of alcohol
Harris, 24, has been arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and being involved in a hit and run accident after he crashed his car late Thursday night, People reports.
According to the celebrity magazine’s Web site, police apprehended the ‘Deadliest Catch’ star after he got into an accident while intoxicated.
Washington State Patrol spokesman Dan McDonald says late Thursday night at about 9 p.m. troopers received calls informing them about an erratically driven BMW traveling southbound on Interstate 5 near the Snohomish-King County border.
Jake’s brush with the law
A State Patrol airplane then directed troopers to the car's location, who pulled him over on the exit ramp to Mercer Street near downtown Seattle. Troopers confirmed that Harris was behind the wheel and was allegedly impaired.
"Mr. Harris was spotted driving a BMW 3 Series erratically Thursday evening by a citizen in Shoreline, Wa. We were able to locate his vehicle by aircraft, and he was pulled over in the Seattle area. The car was registered to his father," People.com quoted McDonald as saying.
"He failed a field sobriety test and refused to take a toxicological test," McDonald added. "After further investigation, it was found that he was involved in a hit and run with another occupied vehicle earlier in the evening. He had rear-ended another car."
Charges

Details regarding the crash have not yet provided.
According to People, his bail was set at $2,000. A popular gossip Web site TMZ.com reports that Harris hadn't posted the bail as of Friday afternoon.
Harris is a deckhand on the fishing vessel Cornelia Marie captained by his father Phil Harris, who passed away Feb. 9 at age of 53 after suffering a massive stroke.
