'American Idol' names top 24 finalists

Currently, ‘Idol’ judges include Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, Kara DioGuardi, and Ellen Degeneres, along with host Ryan Seacrest.

American Idol has revealed its top 24 finalists. Wednesday night saw a two-hour show giving away names of 12 women and 12 men who made it as finalists to compete for the Season 9 crown.

Among the finalists was Tyler Grady who was ecstatic on coming in the top 24. He said to the Idol cameras, “I am in the Season 9, Top 24 for ‘American Idol’ and it feels great.”

Others to make it to the Top 24 include Andrew Garcia, who sung Paula Abdul’s “Straight Up,” and Lilly Scott.

“I’m not gonna let anybody down,” said Lilly to the judges.

Other finalists included Janell Wheeler, Lacey Brown, Ashley Rodriguez, Alex Lambert, Katelyn Epperly, Jose Munoz, Crystal Bowersox, Katie Stevens, Didi Benami, Paige Miles, Siobhan Magnus, Michelle Delamor, Michael Lynche, Casey James, Aaron Kelly, Jermaine Sellers, John Park, Haeley Vaughn, Lee Dewyze, Todrick Hall and Tim Urban.

Two people who failed to make the cut were Thaddeus Johnson and Angela Martin.

Judge Kara DioGuardi delivered the news to Angela saying, “I’m sorry, you didn’t make it. Listen, you are a great singer. You know what? There are other ways to do it and you’ve got it in you.”

Other than Ford, Apple iTunes joined the show in its 7th season. Video of contestants learning their songs from their iPods are shown frequently in the show.
