Pakistan the greatest threat--Biden

Biden said that more attacks, similar to the one that took place on Dec. 25, last year, could take place in United States.

New York, February 11 -- Over the years, United States has expressed concerns over the threats posed by Afghanistan and Iran for carrying out secret nuclear enrichment program. But Vice-President Joe Biden said that his greatest concern at the moment is Pakistan.

In an interview on CNN's ‘Larry King Live’ Biden stated that Pakistan is not “a completely functional democracy in the sense we think about it, and so that is my greatest concern.”

The vice president added that the country has a “minority of radicalised population,” and that Pakistan “is a big country that has nuclear weapons that are able to be deployed.”

More attacks likely
Biden said that more attacks, similar to the one that took place on Dec. 25, last year, could take place in United States.

On Christmas Day, a Nigerian national Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab had tried to bomb the Detroit-bound Northwest Airlines Flight 253 that was carrying 279 passengers and 11 crew members.

But he added that an attack similar to the one that took place on Sept. 11, 2001 was unlikely.

Biden said the Obama administration has already ordered review of security and is preparing to deal with such terrorist attempts.

“I’ve been really impressed with the success we've had, building on the last administration, in dealing with these,” he said.

Biden talks on jobs bill and employment
Expressing his views on the jobs bill, Biden said that he is positive that the White House will get support on the bill, which is expected to be passed by the Congress in the upcoming weeks.

Contradicting the claim by Sen. Scott Brown of Massachusett that the economic stimulus package has not created many jobs, Biden stated that many teachers still have their jobs and thousands other have been able to retain their jobs due to the stimulus bill.

“Everyone acknowledges that we created somewhere between 1.6 million and 2.4 million,” added Biden.

Biden’s views on Palin
The administration has come under intense criticism from the Republicans over the nation's security issues.

Of late, Sarah Palin, the former governor of Alaska, criticized President Barack Obama, saying that he is unfit to be commander in chief and that he has “misguided thinking” on foreign policy issues.

Talking about Palin, Biden said, “I like her. She's an engaging person. She has a great personality. I don't agree with what she says and I think some of the things she says are not – well.”

Biden added that Palin appeals to the people who are frustrated or are conservative. “But I don't know that it represents anything approaching a significant portion of the population,” said Biden.
