Kristen Bell gets engaged to longtime beau Dax Shepard

Kristen, 29, and Dax, 35, who are currently sharing the big screen in the romantic comedy ‘When in Rome,’ first stepped out publicly in January 2008.

The actress showed off her ring on the red carpet of the 52nd annual Grammy Awards held Sunday night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Kristen hit the Grammys with her other co-star Josh Duhamel to present the award for Best Country Album to Taylor Swift.

Citing a rep for the actress, E! News also confirmed Sunday that after two years of dating, Kristen and Dax got engaged to be married.

"They got engaged over the holidays," Kristen's rep told E!

Kristen gushes about her love
The couple reportedly got engaged last month but kept the news under the radar since then. However, the actress does occasionally gush about her love in the press.

According to Us, Kristen detailed her perfect date night with Dax in the November issue of Women's Health, saying, “There is almost nothing, barring a natural disaster, that I would let eat into my time at home, playing Scrabble with Dax or talking to my girlfriends.”

She also joked that they were competitive while filming ‘Rome’ together, adding: “We were trying to one-up each other. That's what we do at home, too. It's like: 'Wait – watch me do this funny bit.' 'No, watch me do this funny bit!'.”

Us says that the actress also spoke about the secret to their relationship, saying: “I've learned the necessity for healthy communication. How important it is to talk about your deepest, darkest fears and feelings.

“Your partner should hear your most embarrassing insecurities because once you say them out loud, you've created a safe zone.

“And a snuggle party can fix anything – it's true!”

Dax Randall Shepard (born Jan. 2, 1975) is an American actor who started his film career with a minor part in the 1998 romantic comedy ‘Hairshirt’.

He subsequently appeared in the wide-release comedy ‘Without a Paddle’ (2004) opposite Seth Green and Matthew Lillard, with supporting roles in ‘Sledge: The Untold Story’ and Mike Judge's science fiction comedy ‘Idiocracy’ following soon thereafter.

His small-screen work include ‘My Name Is Earl’ and ‘Robot Chicken’ shortly before climbing into astronaut gear for Jon Favreau's 2005 fantasy ‘Zathura’. In 2006, Dax appeared opposite Dane Cook and Jessica Simpson in the comedy ‘Employee of the Month’.

Kristen Anne Bell (born July 18, 1980) is an American actress whose first film role was an uncredited appearance in ‘Polish Wedding’.

In 2001, she appeared as Becky Thatcher in the short-lived Broadway musical of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. That same year she made her credited film debut in Pootie Tang.

The actress started dating Dax Shepard in December 2007 after ending her five-year relationship with former fiancé Kevin Mann. The ‘When in Rome’ co-stars went public about their romantic relationship later in January 2008.
