'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' to be released in 3-D

The Deathly Hallows, one of the fastest selling books ever to be sold, follows story after headmaster Dumbledore's death. Harry, Ron, and Hermione drop out of school so as to destroy Voldemort's remaining three "Horcruxes."

New York, January 27 -- After the astounding success of “Avatar” in 3-D, Warner Bros is converting its Harry Potter series into 3-D.

The last movie of the franchise “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” will cost the company approximately $5 million to covert from 2-D to 3-D.

Hollywood Reporter's ‘Heat Vision’ Blog wrote, “Early 3D-conversion tests on Warners' remake of 'Clash of the Titans' have gone so well that -- combined with boosted enthusiasm for 3D in the wake of the 'Avatar' tsunami -- the Burbank studio has decided to release not only 'Titans' but also the two-part 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' in 3D.”

However, Warner Bros. refused to confirm the plan, neither denying nor accepting it. The producers will also be releasing their remake of “Clash of the Titans” in 3-D this April.

Wednesday’s news was also not confirmed by “Potter” author J.K. Rowling. Her opinion on taking the story into the third dimension is still not known.

Harry Potter divided into two parts
“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” which is divided into two parts, has its first part slated to be released this November while second is due for July 2011.

Directed by David Yates, the Deathly Hallows is expected to be a sure shot entertainer.

In a recent interview, Yates said, “The film is a refugee story about three kids cut off from everything they know and everybody they love, being pursued relentlessly by people who want to murder them.”

The second part of the film is a “big opera, a great big epic, with huge battles,” he added.

Warner Bros. has released the previous Harry Potter movie--“Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” in 3-D as well. However, the film specifically catered to the Imax theatres.

More about The Deathly Hallows
The Deathly Hallows, one of the fastest selling books ever to be sold, follows the story after headmaster Dumbledore's death. Harry, Ron, and Hermione drop out of school in order to destroy Voldemort's remaining three "horcruxes."

They shortlist possible horcruxes belonging to Hogwarts founders Rowena Ravenclaw and Helga Hufflepuff. The trio also recovers the first of Voldemort's Horcruxes, after which they meet with a peculiar wizard called Xenophilius Lovegood.

Lovegood tells them the story of the mythical Deathly Hallows, which is known to be the home of three sacred objects: the Resurrection Stone, the Elder Wand, and the Invisibility Cloak.

The book’s climax then culminates into the Battle of Hogwarts where Harry, Ron, and Hermione save the wizarding world and fight with Voldemort. The importance of the three sacred objects are told as the plot continues.

The movie follows similar pattern as the book with the exception of the Battle of Hogwarts, which is shown in part two of the movie.
