London, January 6 -- Russell Brand is engaged to Katy Perry. The two sealed their relationship by making it official with an engagement ring, just five days ago, while they were vacationing in India.
Brand and Perry have been dating each other only for the past four months. They had first met at the MTV VMAs in September and hit it off right from there.
Though, going by Brand’s notorious history, nobody was initially taking the relationship seriously, but the comic has proved that he is well over his past.
Loving it in India
Brand, 34, and Perry, 25, have been touring India over the Christmas holidays.
The two seemed to be having a great time together in the Asian country as they kept posting pictures of their trip on Twitter. Perry also got a lovely henna tattoo, which she showed off on Twitter along with some shots of monkeys, a cow and a picture of the couple in front of the Taj Mahal.
“(The trip) was his Christmas gift,” according to a source close to Perry. “She told him how much she loved Indian culture while they were eating curry in England, so he surprised her.”
Russell Brand’s engagement to American singer/songwriter Katy Perry is being speculated since last month after the British comedian was spotted looking for that perfect ring in Cartier's West London store.
Eventually, he settled on a large, square-cut diamond set in a platinum band that was present to his lady love in a splendid style.
After taking his girl to the country that intrigues her, Russell got down on one knee and proposed to the gorgeous singer, while they were both attending a spiritual ceremony in Jaipur city on New Year’s Eve.
Happy to be together
No wonder, the ‘I Kissed A Girl’ singer is absolutely elated about it all. A rep for the singer could not be reached but she expressed her happiness via Twitter.
She wrote: “...So when do I start walking the streets naked singing that Alanis song?” referring to the song Thank You by Alanis Morrissette.
Brand is also totally besotted by the singer. Late November, he even took a trip to Austria to meet her parents and probably convince them that he’s good for their daughter.
"I'd love to marry Katy - hopefully it's heading that way and I'm really happy,” he had reportedly told Daily Mail's Nathan Kay, in a recent interview.
