Nexus One has already generated so much interest that Internet is abuzz with the leaked details of pricing and sale terms of the upcoming smartphone
New York, January 3 -- Google has already established its foothold in the booming mobile phone market. Extending its presence in the arena, Google is now gearing up to take on the smartphone market.
The Internet search giant has only confirmed a Media event on Jan. 5, but speculations are rife that it could mark the launch of its long rumored smartphone.
Designed by Taiwanese handset maker HTC, Google’s Nexus One is expected to be unveiled at the company's Mountain View, Calif. headquarters Googleplex.
Nexus One has already generated so much interest that Internet is abuzz with the leaked details of pricing and sale terms of the upcoming smartphone.
To add to the mystery, pictures of Nexus One have started circulating on the Internet. Even a video of the smartphone was seen on the net, touting product’s different features.
Threat to iPhone?
Apple has basked in the limelight of its iPhone, which has dominated the smartphone arena for long. But with Google Nexus entering the market, questions are being raised whether iPhone will be able to maintain its commanding lead in the market.
Unlike iPhone, Nexus One will offer access to Internet similar to Skype. Further, the smartphone will run the Google Android operating system, which is gaining popularity in the mobile phone market.
Word has it that Google’s smartphone will not be tied to any one wireless carrier and will be sold directly to consumers. Unlike Apple’s smartphone, which is available through AT&T in United States, Nexus One will be offered on a number of wireless carriers.
With such details emerging, it seems that Nexus One could prove a tough contender to iPhone. But let’s not forget that these are just speculations and once the device is out, it will only be clear then weather Google will get a chunk of the market share long controlled by Apple.
