Jon Gosselin "horrified" after burglary at his apartment

Gosselin's lawyer, Mark Jay Heller, told Us that Gosselin is taking the break-in seriously. According to him, the New York City Police Department investigated the ransacking, collecting fingerprints and the handwritten note.

Los Angeles, December 27 -- Jon Gosselin's apartment in New York City has been vandalized, according to multiple tabloid reports currently making rounds all over the Web.

Us Magazine confirmed the burglary on its website, saying the 32-year-old reality star found his Manhattan apartment burglarized and ransacked when he returned on Saturday afternoon after spending Christmas with his eight children in Pennsylvania.

"This is no minor incident," Gosselin's rep told Us. "The police are investigating. He walked into his apartment and it was a disaster. The couch was cut up, his kids' Wiii is missing, his blu ray DVD player is gone, the pots and pans are gone, the couch was sliced up, all of his clothes and shoes are all sliced and torn up. And the knives were left in there."

Jon horrified after burglary
A report by People magazine says that Gosselin was horrified after discovering his apartment burglarized.

"[He] called me this afternoon . . . when he entered his apartment in Manhattan and was horrified, disheartened and saddened to observe the devastation of his furniture, clothing and personal belongings, which were apparently slashed with a butcher knife by a very troubled and sick perpetrator," People quoted Gosselin's lawyer, Mark Jay Heller, as saying in a statement Saturday.

"Jon immediately contacted me and facilitated the able assistance of the New York City Police Department who immediately dispatched an experienced detective to Jon’s apartment."

Handwritten note found at the scene
According to Heller, the former "Jon & Kate Plus 8" reality star discovered a note that was "speared" into his wooden dresser with a knife. Heller also claims that Gosselin's television, CD player, coffee maker, a Nintendo Wii game and dishes, pots and pans were stolen from his apartment, while some of his clothing, luggage and bedding were also slashed, most likely by the same butcher knife that affixed the handwritten note to his bedroom dresser.

"The greatest damage from this vicious, mean spirited and heartless crime was perpetrated not on Jon’s property and possessions, but on Jon Gosselin himself, who experienced a traumatic, emotional, roller coast ride having just shared a joyful family gathering with his children during their Christmas," Heller's statement read.

Heller told Us that Gosselin is taking the break-in seriously. According to him, the New York City Police Department investigated the ransacking, collecting fingerprints and the handwritten note.

Handwritten note will be analyzed
And Gosselin and his team have big plans for the person who has written that nasty note, the lawyer said, adding that handwriting expert will forensically analyze the note.

Heller declined to reveal what was written in the note, saying: "At this time, I will not release the contents of the note or the signatory, however both Jon and I have determined that the perpetrator must be vigorously prosecuted on felony charges."
