If Boyle continues at this pace with only three more weeks left for 2009, her album could sell 3 million copies and become the year's top seller
New York, December 17 -- Susan Boyle is on cloud nine as she topped YouTube’s most popular video list, reported Broadcasting Ourselves, the official YouTube blog Wednesday.
The British singer's “I Dreamed a Dream”, the most popular video of 2009, has been viewed more than 120 million times worldwide.
YouTube, owned by Google since 2006, has released a list of its top videos for the first time ever.
There is no stopping Boyle
Boyle is topping the charts during holiday time too. This week her album sold 582,000 copies. It is the first album by a woman to have sold 500,000 copies in each of its first three weeks.
If Boyle continues at this pace (with three sales weeks left for 2009), her album could sell 3 million copies and become the year's top seller.
The top four
After Boyle's video, the second to top the YouTube list is “David After Dentist”, a video showing a 7-year-old boy sitting in the back seat of a car after he's had dental surgery. The video, which was posted by David's father, David Davore, has been viewed more than 37 million times.
The third in line is JK Wedding Entrance Dance, a video showing an entire wedding party dancing to Chris Brown’s “Forever.”
Stephenie Meyer continues her charm with her Twilight series as movie trailers of New Moon make it to the third spot with 31 million views.
A commercial for Evian water showing computer-generated roller skating babies got the fifth spot with 27 million-plus views.
“All of them inspired, entertained and connected millions of people around the world via YouTube,” said the official YouTube blog.
The ones that didn’t make it to the list
But there were many videos which were expected to be on the top but didn’t make it in the end. US President Barack Obama's oath to the office, death of Michael Jackson, and landing of airliner on New York's Hudson River were among the few.
Obama’s video dominated the whole of January, while Jackson was the top search for June and July. Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt's record speed video of the Berlin World Championship was the top search in August.
Kanye West was the top YouTube search for September, while Tiger Woods fiasco video is the top till date for December.
