Tiger Woods apologizes: Will strive to be a better person

While the megastar golfer didn't fully admit to any of the allegations, he apologized to his supporters

Los Angeles, December 3-- Hours after the multiple tabloid reports emerged screaming about his infidelity, golf great Tiger Woods broke his silence Wednesday, saying he regrets 'transgressions' that let his family down.

The golf superstar made his first public statements yesterday since allegations of an affair with a Los Angeles cocktail waitress broke on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, an US Weekly report linked Woods to yet another alleged mistress named Jaimee Grubbs and hours after also released a voice mail that the golfer allegedly left on her phone.

Woods’ apologetic statement
On Wednesday, Woods posted a lengthy statement on his Web site, apologizing to fans for his "transgressions" and regretting that he let his family down.

“I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart. I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves. I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect,” the statement reads.

Wife not behind Woods’ car crash
As of the reports that Woods’ wife, Elin Nordegren, was behind his last week’s car crash outside his Florida home, the world's top golfer said those claims are totally false and that Elin had nothing to do with injuries he suffered the night of accident

“I have been dismayed to realize the full extent of what tabloid scrutiny really means. For the last week, my family and I have been hounded to expose intimate details of our personal lives. The stories in particular that physical violence played any role in the car accident were utterly false and malicious. Elin has always done more to support our family and shown more grace than anyone could possibly expect.”

Regretful golfer
Woods did not go into detail and said,: "I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect."

"Whatever regrets I have about letting my family down have been shared with and felt by us alone," he said.

While the megastar golfer didn't fully admit to any of the allegations, he apologized to his supporters.

"For all of those who have supported me over the years," his said, "I offer my profound apology."

“I will strive to be a better person and the husband and father that my family deserves,” he concluded.
