Chelsea Clinton gets engaged to longtime banker beau

The former president’s spokesman, Matt McKenna, announced Chelsea’s engagement to Marc, a former Goldman Sachs banker who now works at New York-based G3 Capital, on Monday

Los Angeles, December 1:Chelsea Clinton finally got engaged to her longtime beau Marc Mezvinsky! Chelsea, the daughter of former U.S. president Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, announced she’s engaged to Goldman Sachs investment banker.

Chelsea, 29, the only child of Clintons, is expected to wed 31-year-old investment banker Marc next summer.

The couple’s engagement news announcement follows false reports over last summer that the two had planned an August wedding at the resort island of Martha's Vineyard.

Engagement news real this time
Chelsea and Marc announced the news over Thanksgiving in an email to friends.

"We're sorry for the mass email but we wanted to wish everyone a belated Happy Thanksgiving! We also wanted to share that we are engaged!” said the email, which was sent out to friends on Friday and provided on Monday by Bill Clinton's charitable foundation.

"We didn't get married this past summer despite the stories to the contrary, but we are looking toward next summer and hope you all will be there to celebrate with us. Happy Holidays! Chelsea & Marc," the email further read.

According to CBS News its correspondent Michelle Miller got the first response from Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Monday night when she was the emcee at the 100th Anniversary Gala for the New York Amsterdam News.

Hillary confirmed the news
Confirming the engagement, Hillary Clinton told Miller: "You know this time it's true, my daughter is engaged."

The former president’s spokesman, Matt McKenna, announced Chelsea’s engagement to Marc, a former Goldman Sachs banker who now works at New York-based G3 Capital, on Monday.

About the lovebirds
Marc is the son of former former Pennsylvania Rep. Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky and former Iowa Rep. Ed Mezvinsky. His father was released from prison last year after serving nearly five years for bank and wire fraud.

Chelsea and Marc have known each other since high school, as the children of politicians in Washington, D.C. Both later attended Stanford University together.

While Marc now works at Goldman Sachs, Chelsea is currently pursuing a public-health degree at Columbia University’s School of Public Health.
