Penis spray could help men last long!

A spray-on treatment for premature ejaculation may help men last longer in bed.

San Diego, November 20: Men who ejaculated within 36 seconds of penetration lasted five times longer after using a topical penis spray, results of a study confirm.

Sprayed directly over the penis five minutes before intercourse helped delay orgasm by an average of 108 seconds, the study results unveiled at the week's meeting of the Sexual Medicine Society of North America Inc. in San Diego reveal.

The study:
256 men with clinically diagnosed lifelong premature ejaculation (PE) from the U.S., Canada and Poland took part in the trial.

Randomly divided into two groups, the first group was prescribed the active spray, called the PSD502, containing the anesthetics lidocaine and prilocaine. The other group used the placebo spray, lacking both active ingredients.

Men who used the active spray were able to delay ejaculation about five times longer, as compared to their counterparts on placebo spray, study’s lead researcher, Ira Sharlip, clinical professor of urology a the University of California, San Francisco revealed.

While a 1 month use helped delay ejaculation for over three minutes, a 3 month use prolonged delay for three minutes and 42 seconds, Sharlip highlighted.

Moreover, the product caused no serious side-effect and was well accepted by the their female sex partners. While only 0.5 percent of the female partners reported a decreased sensation in the vagina, a burning sensation in the vagina was recorded in about 5 percent of the female partners, researchers marked.

Premature ejaculation
According to the International Society for Sexual Medicine, premature ejaculation is defined as 'a male dysfunction characterized by ejaculation which always occurs prior to or within about one minute of vaginal penetration; and, inability to delay ejaculation on all or nearly all vaginal penetrations; and, negative personal consequences, such as distress, bother, frustration and or the avoidance of sexual intimacy'.

According to the health experts as many as one-third of American men aged 18 to 59 years are affected by the problem caused by a complex interaction of biological and psychological factors.

Besides biological reasons like inefficient thyroid gland, prostrate infection, hormonal problems, changes in the brain chemicals level, abnormal reflex in the ejaculatory system and inherited traits, psychological factors like stress, feeling anxious about rejection and negative sexual experiences in childhood can result in a dissatisfying sexual encounter.

"Premature ejaculation can be very distressing condition for men and can cause distress, frustration and make them avoid sexual intimacy" Sharlip cautioned.
