Johnny Depp named “sexiest man alive” for a second term

Beating 2008 winner Hugh Jackman, Depp, 46, has been portrayed as "the king of cool with the killer cheekbones" in the People’s sexiest men alive issue which will be out Friday.

This is not the first time the “Pirates of the Carribean” movie star has been bestowed with the honor. He took the title in 2003 also.

Answering what made Depp win the title for the second term, People Senior Editor Kate Coyne told the CBS Early Show, "He was sexy ten years ago, he'll be sexy ten years from now. He appeals to multiple generations of women -- and for many different reasons to different kinds of women."

"He's sort of everything," Coyne said. "He's a guy's guy, kind of a bad boy, he's a respected artist and actor. You know, he's got a little bit of everything."

Other notable names on the list
Other hotties on the People’s magazine’s list include Robert Pattinson, the sexy beast from the "New Moon", the always-dashing "Hangover" actor Bradley Cooper, and American actor and rapper Nick Cannon.

Matt Bomer, star of the new USA TV series "White Collar", was named the sexiest rising star.

The other double honorees of the second term title include Brad Pitt (1995 and 2000) and George Clooney (1997 and 2006).

Born on June 9, 1963, Depp rose to prominence with a lead role in the television series ‘21 Jump Street’ and never looked back.

The sexy star is best known for his eccentric roles as Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series, Raoul Duke in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and Sam in Benny & Joon.

His most recent roles include 1930s gangster John Dillinger in "Public Enemies" and the murderous London barber "Sweeney Todd".

Depp will be next seen as Mad Hatter in Tim Burton's adaptation of "Alice in Wonderland" which will hit the screens in March 2010.

In what may upset many girls, Depp is a committed father of two and his longtime companion is French singer Vanessa Paradis.
