Palin will be traveling in a bus painted with the cover of the book and will be making two to three stops a day during her book tour
New York, November 12 -- Often caught up in public’s eye, former Alaska governer Sarah Palin is now starting an unusual book tour to promote her memoir- "Going Rogue: An American Life", which will be available in stores Tuesday.
However, only time will tell whether this is an effort to revamp her controversial public image or a bid to share the limelight prior to the 2012 presidential campaign.
Palin’s unusual book tour
Palin will kick off her book tour in Michigan starting Wednesday next week where she will be signing copies of her book at the Barnes & Noble book store in Grand Rapids at 7 p.m. on Nov. 18.
Afterwards, she will be going to smaller places instead, mostly in the South and Midwest like Fort Bragg, North Carolina, home of one of the biggest military bases in the country.
"From Michigan, the 'Going Rogue' tour will cover as much of the country as possible," Palin said this week on her Facebook page. "I've decided to stop in cities that are not usually included in a typical book tour."
She will be travelling in a bus painted with the cover of the book and will be making two to three stops a day, informed Tina Andreadis, a spokeswoman for HarperCollins, Palin's publisher, which is owned by conservative Rupert Murdoch's holding company, News Corp.
She has received an advance of at least $1.25 million from her publishers.
"These are the places where she had her biggest fans and where we think we will sell the most books," Andreadis said.
She’ll also be going to Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, Missouri, Minnesota and Iowa.
Palin’s first media blitz will begin Monday; an interview with Oprah Winfrey. She’ll also be seen on other national television interviews with ABC's Barbara Walters and Fox news’s Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly and Greta Van Sustere.
Her memoir already the best seller
Her book, "Going Rogue: An American Life", is already available for a pre-order on Amazon.com and has become the second best seller for the online retailer.
Her publisher has decided to print nearly 1.5 million copies of her book. Since she is loved by the Republican conservatives, so selling the books will not be a problem for Palin.
“Obviously she is going to be a major player for some time to come," said Saul Anuzis, former chairman of the Michigan Republican Party. "The book tour is a natural extension of what many national political leaders do from a strategic standpoint."
