Los Angeles, November 3 -- Nearly a year after her altercation with her ex beau, Chris Brown, pop singer Rihanna has opened up for the first time about the night she was beaten by the R&B singer.

Brown, who dated Rihanna for a year until the assault incident in February, was arrested on Feb. 8 in Los Angeles on suspicion of making criminal threats against his fellow R&B singer Rihanna after a late-night dispute.

In the violent incident that occurred on the night of the Grammy Awards, the 20-year-old singer had attacked his then girlfriend Rihanna.

The singer was charged with the two felony counts- assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury, and making criminal threats, in connection with the alleged altercation with Rihanna.

He pleaded guilty to felony assault in June, and was sentenced in August to five years' probation and six months' community labor.

Rihanna speaks candidly about Chris-Rihanna saga
Now, nine months after the much-publicized incident, Rihanna speaks about what happened on the night of the Grammy Awards with Brown.

In an exclusive interview, the "Disturbia" singer sits down with ABC News’ Diane Sawyer and talks candidly about the February incident.

During the candid interview, scheduled to air on "Good Morning America" on Thursday, Nov. 5 and Friday, Nov. 6 at 7 a.m. ET, and on "20/20" on Friday, Nov. 6 at 10 p.m. ET, Rihanns tells Sawyer: "This happened to me. … It can happen to anyone."

The Barbados-born singer also admits publicly that Brown was "definitely my first big love".

Also, she tells Sawyer during the in-depth interview about her family life, and what life has been like since the violent incident involving her then boyfriend Chris Brown.

Brown is sorry for his mistake
While Rihanna speaks publicly for the first time about the incident and her ex beau, Brown has gone public multiple times since then.

He spoke candidly previously in a statement released on YouTube, and also appeared on CNN's "Larry King Live" to discuss the things. Recently, he spoke to on New York's Hot 97's Angie Martinez, where he confessed he made a mistake.

"Just be human. Because at the end of the day, I'm human. Of course you're gonna have your thoughts and opinions. I'm not gonna say they're wrong," he told Martinez. "But at the end of the day, it's not right to judge someone. People make mistakes all the time. I'm learning from my mistakes every day and I regret it every second."

Prior to this, he spoke on "Larry King Live" about the incident, saying: "I made a mistake and that's just something I have to live up to and own up to and change and become a better person."

Brown Rihanna’s current projects
Meanwhile, Rihanna and Brown both are preparing to release their respective albums. Def Jam Recordings is going to release Rihanna's new CD, "Rated R," on Nov. 23. Her first single, "Russian Roulette," has already hit iTunes.

Brown is serving his sentence as well as working on his new album Graffiti that will be releasing on Dec. 15.

I am curious to hear

I am curious to hear Rhiana's side of the story. I hope that this can give her some closure.
