California, October 12:“Mad Men” star Christina Hendricks has got hitched to her fiancé, actor Geoffrey Arend, according to multiple tabloid reports. The couple wed in New York City over the weekend, the reports say.
Hendricks and Arend, who met through her "Mad Men" costar Vincent Kartheiser, got engaged earlier this year, and revealed their wedding plans in September.
‘Mad Men’ hottie maries fiancé
The 34-year-old gorgeous redhead, who plays the curvy secretary Joan Holloway on the AMC cable television series 'Mad Men,' and the 31-year-old Arend, who is known for his brief appearance in the opening of ‘Super Troopers,’ tied the knot at the downtown New York City restaurant Il Buco, according to a People report.
The magazine reports that the couple swapped vows on Sunday and exchanged platinum wedding bands made by Tacori.
“The rings are simple and lovely – so much like Christina and Geoffrey,” Tacori rep Michelle Chila told People.
In July, the sexy actress told People magazine that she was planning to wear a Carolina Herrera wedding gown on her big day.
“It was the first dress I tried on and it was magnificent,” Hendricks told the magazine at the time.
She also gushed about Arend when asked what makes him special.
“He’s considerate, he’s thoughtful, he’s smart, he takes care of me,” she said. “He’s very, very giving.”
In September, Hendricks revealed their wedding plans to E!, saying: "We really wanted it to be filled with our absolute best friends and our family... We didn't want to spread ourselves too thin and we really wanted it to have a warm environment, so we kept it with the tightest people."
Why at Il Buco restaurant?
Although the Il Buco restaurant isn't a notable wedding place, the couple chose it to seal their bond because it plays an important part in their courtship.
According to a story Arend told Grub Street at a screening this summer, Hendricks had fallen in love with a chandelier that was hanging at the restaurant and wanted it for years. Arend then set out on a mission to get it for her and approached Il Buco owner Donna Lennard about buying the one-of-a-kind piece.
Arend wanted to propose his sweetheart underneath it, but Lennard wasn't interested to part with the fixture. He then approached the designer of the piece Warren Muller and asked him to create another one for the restaurant.
Arend said he had approached Muller saying: "I’ll send you a check, you make a new chandelier, you bless her restaurant with love from us, and then you bring that chandelier back to me, and you bless my marriage with love.”
Eventually, Arend had the chandelier shipped to Los Angeles, and popped the question underneath it as desired.
“I went through this whole ordeal; it was like my own slaying of a dragon,” Arend told Grub Street. “And I finally got it and I hung it in her house, and I proposed underneath it, and it was incredible.”
