Penélope Cruz, Javier Bardem engaged!

The couple’s engagement reports follow the rumors that the "Vanilla Sky" actress is pregnant with her longtime boyfriend Javier Bardem's baby

Los Angeles, CA, October 6 -- Spanish actress Penélope Cruz is reportedly engaged to her longtime boyfriend Javier Bardem.

According to multiple U.S. tabloid reports, Bardem slipped an engagement ring on his sweetheart's finger in secret.

Cruz, 35, and Bardem, 40, have been an item since 2007, but they have managed to keep their private life out of the spotlight. The pair has never officially acknowledged whether or not they are dating.

Now, the reports are rampant that the "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" co-stars Cruz and Bardem are engaged to be married.

The Oscar-winning Spanish duo are now telling friends they are engaged, according to a New York Daily News report, citing a close friend of the couple who claimed to have heard the news directly from one of them.

"They're telling friends they will get married," the pal tells the Daily News.

US Weekly also cited a source as saying that Cruz and Bardem are engaged “They tried to keep it very private and quiet,” the spy said of the couple.

A rep for Cruz had no comments.

News follows pregnancy rumors
The couple’s engagement reports follow the rumors that the "Vanilla Sky" actress is pregnant with her longtime boyfriend Javier Bardem's baby.

However, Cruz continued to deny the pregnancy reports.

”I start getting some presents from friends saying, 'Congratulations, you're pregnant.' And I say, 'No, I'm not, so return the presents,'" Cruz told USA Today last month at the Toronto Film Festival. "It's amazing."

Cruz not sure to be a wife
The engagement reports also came weeks after Cruz professed ambivalence about being a wife. "I don't know if I believe in marriage," the actress told the UK's Psychologies magazine in August, according to Daily News. "I believe in family, love and children."

She continued: "When I [have children], I want to do it really well. I want it to be my best project in life."

Actors’ love life
Bardem, who won Oscar for "No Country for Old Men," and Cruz, who grabbed the same trophy for "Vicky Cristina Barcelona", appeared together for the first time in the fiery film "Jamon, Jamon" in 1992.

The romance has since sizzled on and off screen. Cruz and Bardem split for some time before teaming up in 1997 for the film "Live Flesh". The romance rekindled between the two and it was like they were never apart.
