'Top Chef' host Padma Lakshmi pregnant!

Lakshmi was previously married to “Satanic Versus” author Salman Rushdie. The two wed in New York in 2004, but divorced in 2007

Los Angeles, CA, October 2 -- "Top Chef" host Padma Lakshmi is expecting her first child! The Indian model-turned-TV-host has conceived after years of struggling with endometriosis, a disorder of the female reproductive system, her rep told Usmagazine.com Thursday.

The rep confirmed the happy news saying that the Indian-American cookbook author and television personality Lakshmi is pregnant despite years of struggling with the medical condition that made it increasingly difficult for her to conceive.

"Model, author and Emmy-nominated Padma Lakshmi confirms that she is carrying her first child after years of struggling with endometriosis, a cause for which she has co-founded the Endometriosis Foundation of America," the rep told Us.

"As a result of her condition, this pregnancy has been referred to by her physician as nothing short of a medical miracle, and due to its delicate nature, we ask/implore the press to respect Ms. Lakshmi's privacy at this time," the rep further said.

Who’s the daddy?
The identity of the baby's father was not disclosed.

Lakshmi was previously married to “Satanic Versus” author Salman Rushdie. The two wed in New York in 2004, but divorced in 2007. Since the novelist and Lakshmi are not together, no one knows who the father is.

Meanwhile, online rumors were rampant recently that a man named Manu Nathan is the father of Lakshmi’s yet-to-be-born baby, but her rep has lashed out at those reports saying Manu is, in fact, Lakshmi’s cousin.

Another man, the indie rock band Eels frontman Mark Oliver Everett, is rumored to be the father of Lakshmi’s unborn child. The two reportedly were spotted together in early August.

Lakshmi and Everett, known as E, reportedly became an item after the two starred together in Eels' 2009 romantic music video for the band’s single, “The Look You Give That Guy”.

Despite the brewing rumors, Lakshmi is mum on the father’s identity.
