Los Angeles, September 26 -- Conan O'Brien, host of the popular TV talk show Since Conan was unable to finish taping, NBC will be airing a repeat of “The Tonight Show” Friday night rather than the scheduled show which was to include Teri Hatcher and Seth McFarlane

Los Angeles, September 26 -- Conan O'Brien, host of the popular TV talk show "The Tonight Show", hit his head during a stunt for the show. The comedian banged his head while he was filming a skit during the show’s taping, reports TMZ citing unnamed sources.

The sources tell the celebrity gossip Web site that the Massachusetts-born comedian injured his head while attempting a stunt for NBC’s “Tonight” show.

An insider told E! News that Conan was running down a flight of stairs when he slipped and hit his head. The accident occurred while the funnyman was taping Friday's episode of the show.

Due to the injury, Conan could not continue with the show and was transported by ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles for medical attention, TMZ reports.

Funnyman takes injury lightly
Despite the injury, the 46-year-old talk show host was high in spirits and was cracking jokes on the way to the hospital, the sources told the Website.

According to The Associated Press, Conan issued a statement through NBC, saying jokingly: "Last thing I remember I was enjoying the play with Mrs. Lincoln, and the next thing I knew I was in bed being served cookies and juice."

Injury forces a repeat broadcast
Since Conan was unable to finish taping, NBC will be airing a repeat of “The Tonight Show” Friday night rather than the scheduled show which was to include Teri Hatcher and Seth McFarlane ("Family Guy," "The Cleveland Show").

NBC issued a brief statement saying only that Conan had “hit his head doing a stunt and the show was not finished”.

Conan O'Brien - the comedian
Conan O'Brien became host of the flagship American late-night show, NBC's The Tonight Show, in 2009. The comedian took over the "Tonight" host's job from Jay Leno in June.

Conan is no stranger to late-night television thanks to NBC's "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" that ran for nearly 16 years, until 2009, when he became host of the “Tonight” show.

Prior to his hosting career, O'Brien was a writer for Saturday Night Live and the animated series The Simpsons.
