On Wednesday, Chief Executive Steve jobs returned – from the break he took a few months back to recover from pancreatic cancer -- to launch new iPod nano with features like built-in video camera and FM tuner. Addition of FM tuner and a video camera has made iPod nano even more versatile.
Jobs confirmed that he’s fully recovered from the disease, but refused to entertain any questions regarding his health. Instead, he jumped straight to discussing new software and iPods.
Good news is that all the rumors about Apple having used faulty camera hardware seem to be the case of someone’s imagination working over time.
New features on nano
By adding a video camera, microphone and speakers on iPod nano, Apple has raised the stakes higher for the other companies in the business.
iPod nano is so small and sleek that it can practically vanish inside your pocket. By using apple’s high tech iVideo software, you can create all kinds of personal videos.
The new improved version now includes features like voice recorder, FM tuner, larger 2.2-inch color display, a pedometer, pausing live radio, and iTunes tagging among above-mentioned features.
New improved prices
Senior vice president of worldwide product marketing for apple, Philip schiller, also made an announcement that 8GB iPod now will be available for $199. 32GB set will be priced at $299 and new 64GB will be marketed at $399.
The 120GB classic, which was speculated by many to have been retired, will be priced $249. It comes in many different and beautiful colors like silver, black, pink, blue and green.
Gaming capacity of the iPod touch were also advertised, by bringing in representatives of gaming companies like Ubisoft, Tapulous etc. on stage for demo of their upcoming games.
On Apps front, iTunes 9 and iPhone OS 3.1 software are available
The iPhone OS is free and available for the use by iPhone and iPod touch owners. Before this, users could handle their apps only through smart phones.
Now that Apple has incorporated the feature into iTunes, it gives you the freedom to organize apps like you would your music content. The updated version of iTunes 9 gives you the chance to do “home sharing”; you can connect up to 5 PCs and can share all the content.
