Palin mimicry gets Tina Fey Emmy

While accepting the trophy, Fey thanked her parents and "SNL" producer Lorne Michaels, who she said are “lifelong Republican, for their patience"

Los Angeles, September 13 -- Actress Tina Fey’s much-talked about impersonation of Republican vice presidential contender Sarah Palin on "Saturday Night Live" has earned her an Emmy!

The "30 Rock" star won the Emmy award at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards Saturday night for her uncanny portrayal of former VP hopeful Sarah Palin on “SNL”.

Accepting her Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress, Comedy, the bespectacled funny lady attributed her success to Palin saying: "This would not be possible without Mrs. Palin. ...[she] is an inspiration to working mothers everywhere because she bailed on her job right before Fourth of July weekend. You are living my dream. Thank you, Mrs. Palin!"

Fey also thanked her parents and "SNL" producer Lorne Michaels, “who are lifelong Republican, for their patience."

"They thought the first four sketches were very funny and the last two, enough already," she said.

Fey can collect more awards at next weekend's Primetime Emmys. According to The Associated Press, Fey could repeat last year's win as best actress in a comedy series for "30 Rock," and the show also could again win top comedy honors.

Other Emmy winners
Another "SNL" winner Saturday was Justin Timberlake, who took home a guest starring Emmy, his second career Emmy, for playing various characters on an episode of NBC's "SNL" that he hosted. By scoring this Emmy, Timberlake has become the first host in the history of the late-night show to claim that honor.

Michael J. Fox (Guest Actor, Drama) was recognized for his role on FX's "Rescue Me", and veteran actress Ellen Burstyn (Guest Actress, Drama) was honored for her role on NBC's "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit".

"I always wanted one of these," said Burstyn, who took home her career’s first Emmy.

HBO topped the list of network winners with 16 trophies, followed by NBC with 11, and Fox and ABC each with eight awards. CBS, PBS and Cartoon Network each claimed six awards.

PBS' "Little Dorrit", an adaptation of the Dickens novel, took home the most awards with four, followed by HBO's "Grey Gardens" that grabbed three trophies, and "30 Rock" that won two.

Several other shows, including the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics and "American Idol", received three creative arts trophies.
