What caused the Oasis split? Guitarist Noel Gallagher tells all

This was Oasis’ second cancellation of a gig in a week. Last weekend the group pulled out of the V Festival in Chelmsford, allegedly because of an altercation between the bandmates that occurred just before the scheduled performance

Los Angeles, August 30:British rock band Oasis’ guitarist Noel Gallagher has parted ways with the legendary rock group on Friday (August 28), blaming his younger brother Liam for the split.

Noel announced on the group’s official website that he has quit the band. According to MTV news, in a post called "A statement from Noel," on August 28, Noel wrote, "It's with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”

The announcement came just hours after the Manchester rock 'n' roll pop group Oasis cancelled their second gig in a week. In the post he also apologized to all the fans “who bought tickets for the shows in Paris, Konstanz and Milan."

Noel reveals why he quit Oasis
The led guitar player then issued a second statement, this time on his blog at Oasisinet.com, in which he detailed why he quit Oasis.

"Dearly beloved, it is with a heavy heart and a sad face that I say this to you this morning," he wrote, according to NME.com. "As of last Friday, August 28, I have been forced to leave” Oasis.

He further stated: "The level of verbal and violent intimidation towards me, my family, friends and comrades has become intolerable. And the lack of support and understanding from my management and bandmates has left me with no other option than to get me cape and seek pastures new.

Noel and Liam’s tumultuous relationship
History shows that songwriter/guitarist Noel and frontman Liam shared a rocky relationship amongst them since the formation of their band in 1991. Even the recent cancellation of the Oasis gig at the Rock En Seine music festival held at Paris was due to an alleged fight between the Gallagher brothers.

Rolling Stone, a festival organizer for the show told MTV.com that Liam and Noel, who were touring in support of their latest album, Dig Out Your Soul, "had a fight backstage."

The organizer continued: "The group no longer exists. They will not play tonight and they are canceling the rest of their European tour." But the crowd at the show thought it was a joke until the following message flashed on screens at the venue: "As a result of an altercation within the band, the Oasis gig has been canceled," according to MTV.

Back to Noel’s second statement: In the end of the statement Noel thanked “all the Oasis fans, all over the world.”

“The last 18 years have been truly, truly amazing (and I hate that word, but today is the one time I'll deem it appropriate). A dream come true. I take with me glorious memories," he wrote on his blog at Oasisinet.com. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a family and a football team to indulge. I'll see you somewhere down the road. It's been a fuckin' pleasure," he concluded.
