Bundle of joy for Hudson and Otunga

The newborn is Hudson’s first child with her fiance, trainee wrestler David Otunga, who is the former I Love New York 2 contestant turned WWE star.

The baby has been named David Daniel Otunga Jr in honor of his dad.

"The baby is beautiful and perfect," Hudson's rep Lisa Kasteler told People. "His parents are ecstatic."

Mother and baby are reportedly doing well after Monday’s birth.

Hudson kept mum on Pregnancy

Although the "American Idol" contestant and "Dreamgirls" star neither publically confirmed nor denied that she was expecting, she looked noticeably pregnant while performing “Will You Be There” on stage as part of the memorial concert for Michael Jackson in Los Angeles in July.

In May, several reports surfaced on the Internet claiming that Hudson’s longtime friend, singer/actress Felicia Fields, held a baby shower in her hometown of Chicago.

Fields confirmed at the time that the Oscar-and-Grammy-winning singer/actress is several months pregnant and that the shower was held at a relative’s home.

"It was a baby shower, a quiet gathering of friends and mostly family," the Chicago Tribune quoted Fields as saying at the time. "They're really trying to keep it kind of quiet."

But in response to a question whether Hudson received blue or pink gifts, which would reveal the baby's sex, Fields only answered: "They don't know [the gender]. More yellow [gifts]."

It’s believed that Hudson kept mum on her pregnancy in wake of the intense media attention focused on her after the brutal murder of her mother, brother, and young nephew in Chicago last October.

Hudson’s 57-year-old mother, Darnell Hudson Donnerson, and 29-year-old brother, Jason S. Hudson, were found shot to death in their Englewood home, while Julian, the 7-year-old son of Hudson's sister Julia, was found murdered inside a vehicle elsewhere in the city. Chicago police at the time nabbed Julia's estranged husband, William Balfour, as a suspect in Hudson family killings.

Hudson and Otunga mum on wedding date

Hudson is engaged to David Otunga, a graduate of Harvard Law School and a former reality-TV star who is currently pursuing a career as a pro wrestler. After dating for less than a year, Hudson and Otunga, better known as Punk from the VH1 reality show “I Love New York 2”, got engaged last year in September.

The pair in March said they have set a date for their wedding, but declined to publicize it.
