Pop singer burst into tears of joy the moment she discovered her husband Marc Anthony had organized a secret bash for her 40th birthday.

Lopez’s salsa singer hubby threw the secret bash at New York's Edison Ballroom on Saturday night, naming the night “An Evening With Lola”(his nickname for Lopez).
Dressed in a Grecian dress with gold chain detail, J.Lo was surrounded by celebrity pals including Liza Minnelli, Ricky Martin, producer L.A. Reid, Gayle King, and her co-star in The Backup Plan, Alex O’Loughlin as she entered the Edison Ballroom.
When Lopez discovered her partner's plan, she appeared to be overcome with emotion. “She looked genuinely shocked, like she expected something, but not this,” one onlooker tells OK!. “She had a huge smile on her face and looked teary-eyed at one point as she went in.”

But, her happiness didn't last long when she noticed that several seats reserved for the swanky meal were empty, as many of the guests were either late or absent.
"Jennifer's party was very intimate, and there were a noticeable amount of empty seats when the dinner started. Jennifer was really irritated. She was fuming because people were late, and complained about it really loudly to Marc," one party-goer said adding that, "Jennifer was visibly upset and embarrassed.
Among those who arrived late were Alicia Keys and boyfriend Swiss Beatz, while Ricky Martin, Liza Minnelli, Leah Remini, L.A. Reid, Gayle King, O'Neal McKnight, her "Backup Plan" co-star Alex O'Laughlin and manager Benny Medina turned up on time.
"Javier Munoz was the only person who gave advance notice that he was going to be late, because he was doing a show on Saturday night," the insider told the publication. "But the others had no excuse. Being late is the height of rudeness, and guests were still arriving at midnight."
Lopez was upset that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes didn't attend the East Coast celebration. The two were reportedly busy hanging out with David and Victoria Beckham in L.A.
Others absent from the party were Will Smith and Jada Pinkett, Eva Longoria Parker and Tony Parker as well as Kate Beckinsale and hubby Len Wiseman.
In related news, the ‘Waiting For Tonight’ hitmaker has shot down rumors that she’ll be replacing Paula Abdul as a judge on the next season of “American Idol”.
A rep for the songtress told People magazine, “The rumor of Jennifer Lopez throwing herself in the ring to take over for Paula Abdul is completely false. Jennifer loves Idol but just as a fan. She just wrapped the feature film The Back-Up Plan, due out January 2010, and will release an album then as well.”
