Los Angeles, July 14: U.S. singer Jessica Simpson and NFL star Tony Romo have called it quits, according to several online reports. The couple broke up on Thursday, just a day before Simpson’s 29th birthday, the reports claim, citing some unnamed sources as saying.

A report from People magazine claims that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo and singer-actress Jessica Simpson, who had been dating since November 2007, have officially broken off their relationship.

“She is heartbroken,” a source told the magazine. “She loves Tony. But it’s been difficult lately. He’s busy with his career and she’s getting ready to shoot her show (The Price of Beauty). They decided to part ways.”

“They were good together for a long time,” the source said. “But I guess it wasn’t meant to be.”

"He had quite a few girls stop by his dance floor table," another source told People.com. "Romo was sipping Grey Goose and having a fun time with the boys."

One more source told the site that the duo could reunite at any time. "They go from one fight right into another, without a second's break. It's always something with Jessica."

The Us report also claims that Simpson canceled her birthday bash because of her break-up with the boyfriend.

Simpson tweets
Simpson herself has informed her fans on her Twitter page that she had canceled her birthday party but did not reveal why. "Barbie party didn't happen, but I turned 29 and feel like I am on top of the world yelling I love getting older," she tweeted.

"The beat of a heart can make you realize the special rhythm of a person ... just listen. I like the irregular beat; it send me to another place ... Everyone needs to know that hope floats ... grab the strings and pull it back to you," she later wrote in a Twitter post.

Meanwhile, when MTV News asked a rep for Simpson for confirmation, the rep neither confirmed nor denied the reports, only saying, "We don't comment on our clients' personal lives."
