The two are engaged to be married, according to the media reports.
The reports say that Strickland popped the question Friday at White's Chapel in Southlake, Texas, after which the happy couple celebrated with a dinner for 20 at Cretia's restaurant in Texas.
"When they walked in, everybody stood up and clapped," Us Weekly quoted a restaurant source as saying, further telling that the "The Bachelor" beauty looked "beamingly happy".
The source continues that Melissa, Strickland and friends celebrated with champagne until the restaurant closed at 2 a.m.
Lovers’ history together
Melissa and Strickland, who met three years ago at a mutual friend's party, had been dating on and off since then. The pair rekindled their romance after indecisive “Bachelor” Jason Mesnick broke up with her in March.
The 32-year-old "Bachelor" single-dad Jason Mesnick proposed to the 26-year-old reality television personality Melissa on the ABC reality dating show in March, but changed his mind on the show's season finale, revealing that he still had feelings for the runner-up, Molly Malaney.
The heartbroken Melissa then starting dating Strickland, who she said has been her friend for years, but the timing was never right for a relationship until now.
"Sometimes, the stars align," Melissa told "GMA" anchors Diane Sawyer and Robin Roberts, according to abcnews.com, "and the clouds part and everything works out the way it should."
"We've been really good friends, but the timing was never right," Us quoted her as saying. "With all this going on, he's my support system. It's funny how things happen."
Melissa's as a TV star
Born Melissa Katherine Rycroft on March 11, 1983, Melissa made her reality TV debut in 2006 on CMT’s reality TV series “Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making The Team” and subsequently joined as a contestant on the thirteenth season of ABC's “The Bachelor”, where she was infamously dumped by Mesnick on national TV for another woman.
In 2009, she was a contestant on the eighth season of ABC's “Dancing with the Star”. Melissa was the last-minute addition to the show, replacing injured contestant, Access Hollywood’s Nancy O’Dell, whose knee injury caused her to be an eleventh hour dropout.
She was hired this summer as a special correspondent for ABC's "Good Morning America".
