Los Angeles, June 23: Ryan O'Neal is set to exchange vows with his terminally ill longtime partner Farrah Fawcett before she succumbs to the cancer that has metastasized and spread to her entire body, the actor recently told Barbara Walters in an interview.

According to ABC News, nearly 30 years after they first dated, Fawcett and her longtime companion Ryan O'Neal are finally getting married.

Deathbed wedding for the couple
"I've asked her to marry me, again, and she's agreed," O'Neal said of the former Charlie's Angels star during an interview with the ABC-TV investigative show 20/20. “We will, as soon as she can say yes. Maybe we can just nod her head."

"She's fighting for her life," he told interviewer Barbara Walters.

The 68-year-old actor, who has been a constant presence at Fawcett's side as she battles a very public battle with cancer, further said, "I used to ask her to marry me all the time. But ... it just got to be a joke, you know. We just joked about it."

But now "I promise you, we will," O'Neal told Walters. "Absolutely."

O'Neal began dating the 62-year-old Charlie's Angels star in 1980, and together they have a son, Redmond, 24.

The planned nuptials would not be the first time for either of them. O'Neal was first married to the late actress Joanna Moore, and then to Leigh Taylor Young.

Fawcett was married to Lee Majors, star of TV's “Six Million Dollar Man,” from 1973–1982, though they split in 1979.

Fawcett hospitalized again
Meanwhile, The Sun has reported that cancer-stricken Fawcett has been admitted to a Los Angeles hospital, where she is "fighting for her life".

"We are not disclosing where she is at this time. She continues to be treated for her condition," her rep said.

A source told People that the actress is critically ill and is not doing well. “There was a moment last week when she was supposed to be released and was going home but things changed," says the source.

Fawcett shot to international fame in 1976 due, in part, to her role as private investigator Jill Munroe in the hit television show "Charlie's Angels".

Fawcett had been first diagnosed with anal cancer in September 2006. She sought aggressive treatment in the United States and Germany and was declared cancer-free in just four months.

But unfortunately, the disease was again detected in May 2007. The doctors found that "not only had it recurred, it metastasized to her liver”.

Farrah Fawcett had recently shared the details of her cancer battle with the world through a television special called "Farrah's Story".
