St. John's new center, the receiver of the Pitt family's donation, will be called the St. John's Jane Pitt Pediatric Cancer Center in honor of Brad's mom, Jane
Los Angeles, June 15: Hollywood superstar Brad Pitt and family have donated $1 million to a Missouri hospital this weekend, according to a local tabloid’s report.
Brad Pitt’s brother, Doug, announced a $1 million family donation Saturday.
According to the Springfield News-Leader tabloid, Doug will be joined in making the donation by other members of the Pitt family, including his wife Lisa Pitt, brother Brad Pitt and his famous family (including his US actress partner Angelina Jolie), sister Julie Neal and her husband Rob.
Pitts’ million dollars donation
The Pitt family made this generous donation to St. John's hospital in Brad’s hometown of Springfield, Missouri to help establish an endowment fund for pediatric cancer specialists at the medical facility, the Springfield News-Leader tabloid reported.
St. John's new center will be called the St. John's Jane Pitt Pediatric Cancer Center in honor of Brad's mom, Jane, the newspaper reported. The pediatric cancer center will open this summer. The center is temporarily located on the fifth floor of the hospital's west pavilion, the report said.
The hospital will also use the money to construct a new pediatric unit, a 10-bedroom hospital-based Ronald McDonald house, and will double the size of the neonatal and pediatric intensive care units already inside the hospital, the newspaper reported.
Brangelina’s passion for donation
Hollywood heartthrob Bra Pitt’s recent donation is the latest in the series of generous donations the actor has made along with his long-time partner, the Hollywood beauty queen and humanitarian, Angelina Joie.
The Hollywood power couple are known for their passion for making generous donations to charities, helping children in need. The Jolie-Pitt Foundation has raised millions of dollars for charitable causes.
In June 2008, the foundation reportedly donated $1 million to the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, which she co-chairs.
“These educational support programs for children of conflict are the best way to help them heal,” said Jolie in a written statement at that time.
“We hope to encourage others to give to these great organizations,” Pitt added in the statement.
The same year in December, the couple donated $100,000 to Global Action for Children (GAC). In 2006, the couple, who are parents to six children -three adopted and three biological, had donated $1 million to the GAC.
