Brown becomes dad again
The former New Edition star reportedly spilled the news on his four day old son at his New York City concert Wednesday (June 3), revealing his manager girlfriend Alicia Etheridge gave birth to a baby boy on Monday.
"I just had a little baby boy!" Brown said during the performance at the Rok nightclub in the New York New York Hotel. "His name is Cassius... he was born four days ago."
Brown’s agent Ravi Dabiesingh also confirmed the news to Usmagazine.com, saying the couple are "extremely excited."
Brown and Etheridge have been dating since the R&B singer’s marriage to Whitney Houston came to an end in 2006. In February of this year, reports hit the Web that Brown is expecting his fifth child with his manager/girlfriend, Etheridge.
Dabiesingh at the time told Us that the "My Prerogative" singer was very excited about expecting another baby "as [he's] big on family."
Brown’s Brood
The newly born Cassius is Brown’s fifth child. He has four other children from his previous relationships with other women. He has one daughter, Bobbi Kristina Houston-Brown, born on March 4, 1993, with his ex-wife Whitney Houston. Brown also has three children from other relationships: Landon, 22, an aspiring performer who appeared on MTV's Rock the Cradle, with Melika Williams; 19-year-old LaPrincia and 17-year-old Bobby Brown Jr. with Kim Ward.
About the new dad
Brown, the American Grammy-winning R&B singer and dancer, started his career in collaboration with the group, The Edition, in 1980. Later, the singer got booted out from the group due to behavioral problems, and eventually went solo and made a string of Top 10 Billboard hits.
Brown wounded his public image due to his numerous arrests. In 1995, Brown was in prison after a scuffle in a Disney World nightclub. A few months later, he kicked a security guard in Los Angeles and was charged with assault.
Brown’s life has been a regular fodder for tabloids as the singer has checked in several times to a rehab to battle drug and alcohol problems. He has also been accused of spousal abuse and arrested for sexual assault in 1997 and 1998 respectively.
Brown married Whitney Houston in July 1992. In 2003 he was charged with breaking the domestic violence law in the USA against his wife Houston. After going through a bouncy wed-lock with Houston, the marriage finally came to an end after 14 years.
On September 13, 2006, Houston's publicist announced that Whitney had filed for divorce from Brown.
Meanwhile, Houston has announced that her comeback album will be hitting stores on September 1st.
