Modeled on Hilton’s raunchy MTV series, in which she tests women to see if they could be her best friend forever (BFF), 'Paris Hilton's My New BFF-Dubai' will not be as racy as the American or U.K. versions due to cultural context
Los Angeles, June 3: Paris Hilton’s quest for a new best friend takes her to Middle East this time.
Party-hopping Hilton has recently wrapped filming season 2 of her U.S. TV reality show ‘My New BFF’, and has already planned to find a stranger willing to become her best friend forever in the United Arab Emirate of Dubai.
Paris in Dubai
The current installment of the show, "Paris Hilton’s My New BFF", premiered yesterday, June 2, on MTV. Now the U.S. socialite is taking her show to Dubai where she would find a new friend through a series of tests.
The 17-day shoot of the latest version of the show will go into production later this month in Dubai, said Ish Entertainment, the production house behind the series.
Whether the Dubai version of the show will be aired in the U.S. is still unclear.
Modeled on Hilton’s raunchy MTV series in which she tests women to see if they could be her best friend forever (BFF), 'Paris Hilton's My New BFF-Dubai' will be produced by Lionsgate and Ish Entertainment, who have struck a deal with the Dubai-based Uniqon, with approval from Dubai's ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
"I love it for the sheer wildcard aspect of it," Michael Hirschorn, co-founder of Ish Entertainment, said of the International project. "It's so out of the ordinary."
Dubai version won't be as risqué as the U.S. and U.K. versions
Unlike previous installments, the Dubai version will not be as racy as the American or U.K. versions due to cultural context, Hirschorn said.
The show will include girl-on-girl competition, and alcohol, bad language or skanky outfits will be nixed from the program to respect the stricter, more conservative values of the United Arab Emirates.
"And the production has promised to adhere to local cultural sensitivities. Swearing, sexually explicit conversation or risque clothing will be kept to a minimum," Hirschorn said.
Hilton and her current boyfriend Doug Reinhardt will recruit half of the potential BFF's from the Middle East and half from elsewhere who are currently living in Dubai, testing the ladies' character to see who fits her style.
Reinhardt and Hilton will spend 17 days in Dubai getting to know the culture and the contestants vying to befriend the 28-year-old high profile celebrity heiress before they head back to Los Angeles to make the final choice.
Hilton’s new show “My New BFF” is a contestant driven reality show, in which contestants accomplish different challenges to be Hilton’s friend forever.
Paris Hilton’s life in the media
Paris Hilton, the heiress to the Hilton hotel fortune and the daughter of real estate magnate Rick Hilton, is best known for starring in a fish-out-of-water reality show called "The Simple Life" with a fellow heiress Nicole Richie, daughter of singer Lionel Richie.
The life of the damsel has been in media spotlight ever since she entered the entertainment industry and subjected to criticism for her hard-partying lifestyle by almost everyone.
In November 2003, Hilton came in the headlines when a home video of her cavorting with her then-boyfriend Rick Solomon was published online.
Paris Hilton along with Britney Spears has topped the Former designer Mr. Blackwell's 47th annual "Worst Dressed" list and were described as "Style-free and fashion deprived” by Blackwell.
Labeled as the “Party Girl,” Hilton has been involved in a number of legal cases. A Los Angeles party planner had accused her of bombarding him with angry phone calls, shoving him and threatening his life.
In June 2006, Hilton had a fender-bender accident when her Range Rover backed into a car in a parking garage after a shopping trip.
