'Injured' Angelina Jolie resumes filming 'Salt'

Los Angeles, May 30: After taking a brief trip to the hospital for a minor injury she sustained while filming an action sequence on the Long Island set of her latest movie “Salt” on Friday, actress Angelina Jolie is back on the set, a spokesman for Columbia Pictures says.

Steve Elzer, a spokesperson for the movie's studio, Sony, confirmed that the 33-year-old actress is now fine.

In a statement, Elzer said: "This morning, while filming an action sequence during production of her new movie Salt, Angelina Jolie sustained a minor injury. As a precautionary measure, Ms. Jolie was taken to a local hospital, examined and released. She is now back on set and production of the film has resumed."

Jolie’s on-set injury
Jolie had bumped her head and suffered a small cut between her eyes yesterday during production of her upcoming thriller "Salt", which is currently being filmed on Long Island, New York. The "Changeling" actress was then taken by crew members to a local hospital for an examination.

Jolie received treatment at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset and was released shortly after, a spokesman for the medical facility Terry Lynam said. He declined to elaborate on the actress' treatment.

About the spy thriller “Salt”
In the spy thriller Salt, the mother of six Jolie is playing Evelyn Salt, a Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) officer who is accused by a defector of being a Russian sleeper spy and out to assassinate the president.

Due out on July 23, 2010, the film is produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Sunil Perkash, and directed by "The Quiet American" fame, Phillip Noyce. The script was written by Kurt Wimmer and Brian Helgeland.

Jolie’s character in the movie was actually intended for an actor, one in particular was Hollywood heartthrob Tom Cruise.

Jolie and Pitt, known in the media as "Brangelina", are raising six children together. The Hollywood’s hot couple’s brood of six children includes three adopted kids- son Maddox, whom Jolie adopted in neighboring Cambodia in 2002; another son Pax, whom she adopted from Vietnam; and a daughter Zahara, whom she adopted in year 2006 from Ethiopia- and three biological kids- daughter Shiloh Nouvel, son Knox Leon and his twin sister Vivienne Marcheline.

Hollywood beauty queen Angelina Jolie has recently won the World’ beautiful woman title. In Vanity Fair magazine’s “Most Beautiful Woman In The World” poll carried out in April of this year, a whopping 58 percent of voters chose the actress as the world’s “Most Beautiful Woman”. Jolie was nominated for the best actress Oscar for her role last year in "Changeling", in which she plays a mother whose son was kidnapped.
