Farrah Fawcett, discharged Thursday afternoon from the hospital, is at home now
California, April 10: After being treated for internal bleeding, cancer-stricken U.S. actress Farrah Fawcett has been discharged from a Los Angeles hospital Thursday.
The 62-year-old "Charlie's Angels" star was hospitalized last Thursday after suffering bleeding in a stomach muscle following a surgical procedure she had in Germany to contain the cancer from spreading.
Celebrity magazine People reported on its website that Fawcett, who has anal cancer, left the hospital on Thursday afternoon with longtime beau Ryan O'Neal.
However, Fawcett's physician, Dr. Lawrence Piro, told People that the actress’s week-long hospital stay was due to internal bleeding not directly related to her anal cancer.
Dr. Piro said: “The pain from the hematoma has improved substantially and she is walking. Her mood was upbeat and she is in good spirits. She’s particularly looking forward to spending Easter at home with her family. Her home has been stocked with her favourite teas and food and she's looking forward to enjoying them.”
Fawcett was diagnosed with anal cancer in 2006, which her doctor says has now metastasized to her liver. Last year in February she saw her anal cancer go into remission, but it returned merely three months later.
On Monday, her spokesman, producer Craig Nevius, said that scans showed her anal cancer not only had recurred, but metastasized to her liver.
Born on Feb 02, 1947 in Corpus Christi, Texas, Fawcett shot to fame in the 1970s as a pinup model and an original cast member of the hit TV show "Charlie's Angels" that made her a sex symbol for millions of young men.
Since 1982, Fawcett has been involved romantically with Oscar-nominated actor Ryan O'Neal. Together the couple have a son, Redmond.
Meanwhile, RadarOnline.com has quoted some sources as saying that Fawcett is aware of her son’s arrest and is extremely upset. Her 24-year-old son Redmond O'Neal was arrested last Saturday while trying to visit a friend in jail. He was busted after police found him carrying narcotics in a jail facility in Castaic, California.
