It has been confirmed that the 28-year-old U.S. pop star turned country singer is no longer represented by Sony Nashville.
However, a representative for Jess insists she was not actually dropped by the label instead the arrangement with the company was only temporary and that she will now focus on her pop career.
The rep told UsMagazine.com that the singer always planned to leave the label at some point. "Jessica is and has always been an Epic artist. She was on loan to Sony Nashville for her country album. She is and has always been an Epic artist and continues to be on Epic's label," the publicist said.
Jessica transformed her tune to a country beat last year but her country music album “Do You Know,” which was released on Columbia Nashville on September 9, 2008, managed to sell just 172,876 copies in the United States as of February, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The figure is much lower than her previous album “A Public Affair,” which was released August 29, 2006 and stalled at 300,000 copies.
All details about the blonde beauty, including her artist bio and page, are removed from Columbia Nashville or Sony Nashville Web sites.
Jessica’s ouster from the label comes on the heels of reports that Joe Galante, the head of Sony BMG Nashville was fed up with the singer forgetting her lyrics and crying on stage during her tour with the American country rock band, Rascal Flatts.
Jess even didn’t attend the Academy of Country Music awards Saturday, instead was enjoying with friends in Cabo.
