'Glee' cast silenced by tonsillitis

Los Angeles -- Some cast members of Fox Television's hit show "Glee" were diagnosed with tonsillitis in Los Angeles, forcing cancellation of production, officials said.

Among the ill was Dianna Agron, who plays the show's head cheerleader, Entertainment Weekly reported.

The illnesses forced cancellation of Friday's taping and cast members who remained healthy got the day off.

Agron, Tweeting from her bed, said: "Note to self. Should have gotten a flu shot. In bed, hoping that medicine, soup, my computer and a marathon of movies will be the cure."

Cast member Lea Michele was in higher spirits, tweeting: "What a beautiful relaxing day! Went on an awesome hike and just (got) a massage! So happy it's the weekend!"

Report: Idol eyes Vegas, communal living

Hollywood -- Big changes may be in store at American Idol, including location shooting in Las Vegas and more behind-the-scenes footage, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.

The Reporter said this week that among the ideas under consideration is having the top 12 contestants bunk together in a Hollywood Hills home with more interviews and off-stage footage.

There will also be looser rules on social media.

The Reporter said the producers will relax rules that had abruptly folded the singers' Twitter accounts into one single feed for the entire show.

Fans try to halt Jackson autopsy program

Los Angeles -- A group of Michael Jackson fans is calling on the Discovery Channel to cancel plans to air a documentary on the late pop star's autopsy.

A petition drive has collected nearly 1,500 signatures from people who don't want the television special "Michael Jackson's Autopsy" to air as scheduled Jan. 13 in Britain.

TMZ said Saturday the organizers of the petition were disturbed by the program's graphic nature. The petition states, "We ask the directors of the Discovery Channel programming to proceed with the outright cancellation of this indecent documentary."

Jackson died suddenly in 2009 of cardiac arrest following an injection of painkillers and sedatives.

Jillian Michaels leaving 'Loser'

Los Angeles -- Fitness trainer Jillian Michaels has announced via Twitter that Season 11 of "The Biggest Loser" will be her last on the U.S. competition show.

She has been a mentor on the program since 2004.

"Season 11 of Biggest Loser will be my last :) have to finish out my contract," The Hollywood Reporter said Michaels tweeted, adding her replacement has already been found.

"They already hired her," Michaels continued. "Using my last season to help launch her in season 11. ... I want to take a year off TV and focus on becoming a mommy and doing more charity work."

Season 11 is to premiere next month.

A&E scraps 'The Hasselhoffs'

Los Angeles -- "The Hasselhoffs," a U.S. reality series starring actor David Hasselhoff and his aspiring actress daughters, has been pulled from A&E's schedule.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed the show was yanked from the cable network's lineup after two episodes aired because of low ratings.

It is unclear if the eight other episodes of the show will ever air, the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.

Hasselhoff is best known for his work on TV's "Knight Rider" and "Baywatch."
