Dermot Mulroney files for divorce

Los Angeles -- Actor Dermot Mulroney has filed divorce papers in Los Angeles Superior Court to end his marriage with actress Catherine Keener.

Mulroney, who cites "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for divorce, filed the papers June 8, People magazine reported.

It was revealed Monday that the couple had split in May 2005.

The court documents said Mulroney requested joint legal and physical custody of the couples' 7-year-old son Clyde Keener Mulroney and property rights will be determined by the court.

Original Family Stone concert Friday

Oakland, Calif. -- The Original Family Stone funk band will take the stage at Historic Sweet's Ballroom in Oakland, Calif., Friday.

Sly Stone will not be at the event, but three of the original members -- Jerry Martini, Rose Stone and Cynthia Robinson -- will sing classics including "I Want to Take You Higher," "Thank You" and "Everyday People," the Oakland Tribune reported.

Political waters warming for Thompson

Los Angeles -- Actor Fred Thompson, a former Republican senator from Tennessee, Tuesday night teased a national TV audience about his possible run for president.

Appearing on the "The Tonight Show" with host Jay Leno, Thompson acknowledged he has formed a committee to "test the waters" and is starting to raise money should he ultimately throw his hat in the already crowded ring. He said so far the political waters are "warm."

Sophia Loren tops Italian beauty poll

Rome -- Sophia Loren and Franca Florio came out on top in an international poll of the most famous Italian beauties.

Loren scored a 95 percent "recognizability" rating in the "Italian women who made the world dream" poll of 170 so-called glamour experts in the United States, Britain, France and Germany, ANSA news service said Tuesday.

Rachel Weisz to star in 'The Lovely Bones'

Los Angeles -- Actress Rachel Weisz has signed on to play the leading role in Peter Jackson's "The Lovely Bones," based on the Alice Sebold novel of the same name.

DreamWorks will begin production on the film in October with distributor Paramount Pictures releasing the movie worldwide, Variety.com reported Tuesday.

Weisz will play a mother whose young girl was abducted and thought to have been murdered.

Harrison Ford at Ocean Conservation Awards

Lond Beach, Calif. -- The film "Our Ecological Footprint and Ways to Reduce It," narrated by Harrison Ford, will be shown in Long Beach, Calif., at the Ocean Conservation Awards.

The nonprofit Aquarium of the Pacific will host the eighth annual Ocean Conservation Awards Gala Saturday, the Aquarium of the Pacific said in a news release.

The awards recognize those who have taken leadership roles to protect the environment and oceans.

News anchor Nancy O'Dell has first child

Beverly Hills, Calif. -- "Access Hollywood" anchor Nancy O'Dell and her husband, Keith Zubchevich, Monday welcomed their first child together at a Beverly Hills, Calif., hospital.

Baby girl Ashby Grace Zubchevich, who shares her birthday with her maternal grandfather, weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces and measured 22 inches long when born at Cedars-Sinai Hospital, according to a news release from "Access Hollywood."

Rihanna wins best celebrity legs

New York -- Pop-R&B singer Rihanna was given a corporate "Celebrity Legs of a Goddess" award Monday in New York.

The singer, who recently released her third album, "Good Girl Gone Bad," also will work with Procter & Gamble Co.'s new Venus Breeze leg razor marketing campaign by judging the 2007 "Legs of a Goddess" contest.

Claire Forlani and Dougray Scott wed

Los Angeles -- Actress Claire Forlani and actor Dougray Scott, who recently appeared on "Desperate Housewives," have been married in Italy.

"They're both very excited," a source said after their private ceremony Friday.

Forlani reportedly wore a strapless gown custom made by designer Junko Yoshioka for Bonaparte-NY, People magazine reported.
