Brad Pitt takes a trip to Capitol Hill

Washington, March 6: Brad Pitt elicited looks and gasps of admiration as he became the latest Hollywood celebrity to appear at Capitol Hill.

Dressed in a black suit and sunglasses, Pitt arrived at Capitol Hill Thursday in order to discuss his “Make It Right” campaign with three of the top lawmakers in the country. In 2007, the actor helped launch the said campaign which aims to provide affordable housing for the low-income New Orleans residents whose homes were devastated by Hurricane Katrina.

Despite not being with partner Angelina Jolie, Pitt was not alone in pushing his advocacy, for he was joined by the longtime Democratic fundraiser Steven Bing.

Pitt was escorted by bodyguards and police officers as he entered the Brumidi corridor to go to his first meeting, which was with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. No comment was obtained from Reid’s office regarding how the meeting went.

After this meeting, Pitt was escorted by Capitol police officers in order to meet with Senator Patty Murray at the building located just across the street. Regarding the meeting, Pitt said, “It went very well. We were talking about the rebuilding efforts."

Alex Glass, a spokesperson for Senator Murray also gave a statement about the meeting saying, “They had a good meeting and discussed the need for affordable sustainable housing and creating green collar jobs.”

Next on Pitt’s agenda was meeting with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Before finally meeting with Pelosi, Pitt took time to face the cameras.

He said, “I just want to say thank you to the Speaker for opening up doors for us to come in and discuss the rebuilding effort – the current rebuilding effort going on in New Orleans and how we can expand this idea of affordability and sustainability because we think we have a model that works.”

Just like other staff at the Capitol, Pelosi seemed to be excited about meeting Pitt. She said, “It really is an honor to have him here and I know for some of my staff, and for bragging rights to my children and my grandchildren, a real treat for me as well.”

Pitt’s meeting with Pelosi ended at 3:55 p.m. and he was seen leaving the Capitol complex in a black SUV at 4 p.m.
